Really fun weekend exploring Southern NM - stopped in at a roastery in Hatch (home of the chile) & camped near White Sands National Park - this state is so cool!

The new issue of #ScienceTranslationalMedicine is out!

A clinical study identifies people at risk of renewed COVID-19 infections after mRNA vaccination, researchers probe differences in the viral reservoir between men and women living with HIV, and more. https://scim.ag/3I301m5
Inspired by the 1979 album cover by Joy Division, whose lead singer Ian Curtis was diagnosed with severe epilepsy, the cover depicts representative calcium activity of 80 simultaneously recorded mouse hippocampal neurons across four distinct stages: physiological activity (left), immediate pre-seizure epileptic population spikes (center left), seizure activity (middle), and a subsequent wave called spreading depolarization (right).

I’m in the market for a fanless solid state (DPSS) 561 nm laser & both companies I’ve purchased from in the past seem to have either vanished or aren’t replying to my inquiries & quote requests 👻 anyone have a good source?

Cool! What a creative, yet simple, approach. Love this kind of science!

I have an opening in my lab for a postdoctoral fellow to work on projects that relate to the mechanisms of neurotransmitter release by dopamine neurons and/or on how inflammatory signals infuence the functionning of these neurons. Please share.

Here, we demonstrate that regionally-isolated deleterious peri-infarct and remote seizure-associated beneficial spreading depolarizations can co-occur in the brain during acute ischemic stroke. Each driving a similar acute wandering behavior, but with distinct impacts on stroke recovery.
