New: Apple banned an app that simply archived videos of ICE abuses. Rather than other apps that record ICE official's real-time location, Eyes Up is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." Videos from TikTok etc. Every submission manually reviewed

Apple Banned an App That Simply Archived Videos of ICE Abuses
Eyes Up's purpose is to "preserve evidence until it can be used in court." But it has been swept up in Apple's crackdown on ICE-spotting apps.

Donald Trump is breaching the Constitution and breaking the law.

A show of force so he can militarize our cities because of the 2026 elections.

We need to stand up together and speak up.

It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. Media outlets should be telling us how they will prepare for this potential Treason. State governments should be telling us. Activists should be developing plans.

I can’t not believe how hard it is to sleep when you’re watching your country, be dismantled by the dumbest people.

We are alarmed by reports that Germany is on the verge of a catastrophic about-face, reversing its longstanding and principled opposition to the EU’s Chat Control proposal which, if passed, could spell the end of the right to privacy in Europe. signal.org/blog/pdfs/ge...

Trump just ordered the military into Portland, and he’s giving them the green light to use lethal force on American citizens.

Authoritarianism is an abstract concept but Trump is making its impacts real and tangible. Let’s be real about it: This is the beginning of dictatorship in America.

Not sure what to make of this: The Chapman Survey of American Fears has found "corrupt government officials" to be the #1 fear (out of 85) for 9 years running.

It's wild that this consistently ranks above war, terrorism, and even "people I love dying." Not the same as most intense fear but still.
A horizontal bar chart titled “Top 10 American Fears of 2024” shows the percentage of Americans who are “afraid” or “very afraid” of each issue, based on the Chapman Survey of American Fears (sample: 1,008 respondents, margin of error ±4%).
	1.	Corrupt government officials – 65.2% (ranked #1 in 2023 as well).
	2.	People I love becoming seriously ill – 58.4% (up from #5 in 2023).
	3.	Cyberterrorism – 58.3% (up from #9).
	4.	People I love dying – 57.8% (up from #6).
	5.	Russia using nuclear weapons – 55.8% (down from #3).
	6.	Not having enough money for the future – 55.7% (up from #10).
	7.	U.S. becoming involved in another world war – 55.0% (down from #4).
	8.	North Korea using nuclear weapons – 55.0% (up from #12).
	9.	Terrorist attack – 52.7% (up from #16).
	10.	Biological warfare – 52.5% (down from #8).

Disney/ABC have a responsibility to refuse to participate in corruption.

Kimmel must be reinstated. If Disney/ABC agree to this extortion then perhaps creatives + workers should consider collective action to push back. Same w/buying park + cruise tickets if they bow.

People have power. Ask Target

Cancelling Disney+ and Hulu. Kids will be disappointed but they can deal and make (and fund) their own moral choices.

cancelling Disney+ and Hulu is well and good but it’s not a huge hit on an individual level

but Disney adults? people who spend real money at the parks? you guys can make a dent, call ‘em up and tell them your vacation is postponed until they pull their heads out of their asses

Heard from a friend at Disney+ that there are multiple levels of freakout internally, both from internal dissatisfaction, concerns about subscription cancelations, and of course the big one: concern about a boycott spilling over into parks and cruises.

What we are witnessing is an outright abuse of power.

This administration is attacking critics and using fear as a weapon to silence anyone who would speak out. Media corporations — from television networks to newspapers — are capitulating to these threats.

Luckily, Sinclair has a helpful database of all their stations, so you can see if they're operating in your area and respond accordingly.

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

The following is a statement from the WGA on ABC’s decision to pull ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
WGA Statement on ABC's Decision to Pull ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other - to disturb, even - is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.
As a Guild, we stand united in opposition to anyone who uses their power and influence to silence the voices of writers, or anyone who speaks in dissent. If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn't have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to - painful as it may be at times - is the freeing agreement to disagree.
Shame on those in government who forget this founding truth. As for our employers, our words have made you rich.
Silencing us impoverishes the whole world.
The WGA stands with Jimmy Kimmel and his writers.
