My first post, the one you replied to, said the results from non-llm gen ai are bad. I think we agree entirely! Hope you have a great weekend though.

I read the statement, I don’t think it warrants a forth or fifth round of pileons, assuming he meant LLMs specifically, and “I’m swearing off Larian games for life”

…but I’d rather have “he was too charitable on social media” on my tombstone than the opposite

I don’t disagree for textures, but other situations, for (eg) asset classification, there’s avenues.

Maybe they explore them, they don’t like them, they move on. That doesn’t mean they were wrong to check.

OR the ceo mean LLMs all along and I’m being too charitable.

I think too many people in the replies here read "gen AI" and assumed he meant LLM.

LLMs are a form of generative AI at huge scale (hence the first L). but you can also do it at small scale.

the results are not as good! but you can do it without plagiarism and without huge energy costs.

Me too, they just won’t click. I’ve read books, I’ve followed tutorials, I’ve even been able to create basic effects. But it all floods out as soon as I stop. I can do so many other aspects of game development and programming! Including complex things like AI and compilers. Just not shaders.
