My first post, the one you replied to, said the results from non-llm gen ai are bad. I think we agree entirely! Hope you have a great weekend though.

I read the statement, I don’t think it warrants a forth or fifth round of pileons, assuming he meant LLMs specifically, and “I’m swearing off Larian games for life”

I don’t disagree for textures, but other situations, for (eg) asset classification, there’s avenues.

Maybe they explore them, they don’t like them, they move on. That doesn’t mean they were wrong to check.

OR the ceo mean LLMs all along and I’m being too charitable.

I think too many people in the replies here read "gen AI" and assumed he meant LLM.

LLMs are a form of generative AI at huge scale (hence the first L). but you can also do it at small scale.

the results are not as good! but you can do it without plagiarism and without huge energy costs.

313 pages into Mirror And The Light, and it’s only just 35%. I’ll take this book with me to my maker. Finishing this book will be my children’s children’s bequeathment.

Can you solve a puzzle without knowing the rules?
For the first week of January, I'm publicly sharing the experimental beta of Scriddle - a daily puzzle where the rules are kept secret. I'd love to know how many guesses it took you to solve it.

StoryGraph’s summary stuff is half-broken but here’s all this year’s books. Wolf Hall is an instant all-timer; have been gorging on the third over the Christmas break.

26 books is even with last year, I think that’s about my level after three or four years of linear increases.

Me too, they just won’t click. I’ve read books, I’ve followed tutorials, I’ve even been able to create basic effects. But it all floods out as soon as I stop. I can do so many other aspects of game development and programming! Including complex things like AI and compilers. Just not shaders.

I think separate the problem-solving part of coding (fun, creative, rewarding) from the typing of code (mostly boring).

I don't ever want something solving the problem for me. but I might be interested in something that can reduce typing.

that's consistent with viewing code as Creative, imo.
