So, for the last 3 months, every time I hit play on my CD player it toggled over to an FM station that played nothing but static. I stubbornly kept stabbing play until the CD started playing.

Finally, I gave up and bought a new player. It works great, but for some reason the readout is upside down.

We wanted a cover that absolutely was not AI in anyway... and my painting had brushstrokes! So, we got to work.

When I signed the contract with the publisher I celebrated by breaking out the brushes. The brushstrokes and palette I used were full of the high energy and chaotic happiness I felt.

Interestingly, I went to Iceland this year and discovered one of their treats was chocolate covered liquorice. At first, my taste buds were like.

WHAT IS THIS? The liquorice was like a rock and the chocolate was dark and bitter.

But I got a bag a momento and by the end I was really digging it.

Thanks to all the crew @trollbreathmag.bsky.social for sharing my essay on the origins of the name Hornytown. I'm not sure I even realized as I was creating my DC suburb of Hell all the reasons I chose the name or that was in part a clapback against prejudice.
