“The charges as alleged in this case represent a breach of the public trust at an extraordinary level,” said U.S. Attorney Halligan. “The balance of power is a bedrock principal of our democracy, and it relies upon accountability and a forthright presentation of facts from executive leadership to congressional oversight. Any intent to avoid, evade, prevent, or obstruct compliance is a violation of professional responsibility and, most importantly, the law.”

In July 2022, on the eve of Johnson’s announcement that he would resign from government, Lewis spent the day in 10 Downing Street and worked closely with Johnson and his advisers.

Lewis appears to have arrived early in the morning, at 7.50am, and took part in at least six meetings during the day, including a gathering of Johnson’s aides to prepare him for prime minister’s questions (PMQs) in the House of Commons.

In the meetings, which stretched into the evening, Lewis appears to have participated in gatherings of Johnson’s closest political allies, including several MPs and a senior minister, as the prime minister came under intense pressure to step down.

Asked who has best addressed the Israel-Palestinian conflict, Mamdani has a 27-point lead over Cuomo among New Yorkers. Really hard to see how Dem politicians continue to cite voter concerns on this issue as a reason for not endorsing.
