DOCTOR WHO
The Monsters Inside
BY STEPHEN COLE The TARDIS takes the Doctor and Rose to a destination in deep space - Justicia, a prison camp stretched over six planets, where Earth colonies deal with their criminals.

While Rose finds herself locked up in a teenage borstal, the Doctor is trapped in a scientific labour camp. Each is determined to find the other, and soon both Rose and the Doctor are risking life and limb to escape in their distinctive styles.

But their dangerous plans are complicated by some old enemies. Are these creatures fellow prisoners as they claim, or staging a takeover for their own sinister purposes?

Featuring the Doctor and Rose as played by Christopher Eccleston and Billie Piper in the hit series from BBC Television.: Chris’s Show & Tell - a page from the guestbook of Brecon Cathedral from 2009.

A vampire is on the loose!

The Doctor and his companions arrive in a quiet, unassuming seaside town called Whitby. The terrible significance of the place evades them. until they happen upon a theatre production that captivates their attention.
Dracula!

Suddenly, murders are occurring left, right and centre. lan is soon missing, and a town shrouded in myth and legend is beginning to live up to its name.

Clearly there is a Dracula at large, and more to the theatre than meets the eye. As the TARDIS team quickly realise, you can never trust a vampire... All eight books in the Puffin Classics Crossover line arranged on a table. Half the books are written by Paul Magrs, two by Jacqueline Rayner, one by Bali Rai, and one by Jack Heath. The spines of all eight paperback books in the Puffin Classics Crossover line. Note the Doctor Who logo changes from the Chibnall logo to the RTD2 logo after the 5th book in the range.

Looking forward to this episode! I listened when it came out. I adore Kate Orman & Michael Troughton’s reading!

Overall enjoyed it, but with some reservations. Struggled with some of the sci-fi concepts that felt more 2023 than 1966, which took me out of the story. Can’t wait for your review!

My current reading. This book reprints material from early Doctor Who annuals from Hartnell through to Tom Baker (no Davison). One Pertwee text story has the Doctor fight against a Kelad, a robotic creature whose name spelled backwards will be familiar... This predates the Kaleds in Genesis.

I came across Doctor Who: The Art of Time Travel which is coming November 20th!
The book will feature over 300 pages of Peter McKinstry's concept art for the iconic series.

#Reading The Monsters Inside for #DoctorWho Book Club @andwbcpodcast.bsky.social, right from the opening scene this story is a bit grim. I'd also forgotten it is meant to be Rose's first time on an alien planet 📚🪐

Fear Death By Water by Emily Cook is an excellent #DoctorWho adventure, a different kind of celebrity historical. It left me thinking about fame as an ouroboros, and using history and genealogy to rewrite generational trauma. It also has a reference which brought a smile to this old timelashologist…

THINGS WILL CHANGE.. "Back then, no one at the BBC wanted much to do with Doctor Who. So, there was no one looking over my shoulder (not even on the tube!). No one sticking their oar in, saying "You can't do that....!'

Such freedom! All taken for granted at the time, of course. I asked authors what they wanted to do, and. they told me and from that first chat we had a giddy time working it out and bringing it all into being." (from Steve Cole's Introduction)

Come with us, back to 1998, to the decadent fin-de-siecle - where there's a marvellous party and further new adventures still going on... Meet old friends and new in this treasury of tales celebrating the most fun and joyful of all the Doctors Who.
