It's really awesome and cool when someone gets upset at you for "ignoring them" when you didn't hear them because you have auditory processing issues, and then you're still being accused of ignoring them despite explaining repeatedly that you didn't hear them. Cool and normal stuff

It turns out that when you ask for help, you can receive help! And then everything isn't so overwhelming and scary!

We've gotten absolutely pummeled with rain in the PNW, but all that water is running right out again (through houses and farms and towns...).

What we really need is snow, to hold the moisture in place and get us through our dry summers, but that will get more and more rare as the climate warms.
Snowpack off to a terrible start across the Western U.S. with no relief in sight.

Sentences like this make me crazy. The "vehicle" hit the woman? All on its own?

I think we will be professional plumbers very shortly here, now that we've cleaned out just about every drain in the house. I'm just glad we've been able to fix most of the issues ourselves, but I don't want to think about how many tenants' worth of gunk we've removed...

I absolutely love having neighbors, don't get me wrong, but it's also very gratifying to play my early 00s jams a couple notches louder than usual whilst in the shower since there is currently no one in the other half of our duplex.

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the whole thing with the terribly written paper citing the bible at Oklahoma was literally designed from the beginning to get the trans grad student instructor fired, likely orchestrated by the student's parents.

Transgender Day of Remembrance is always very difficult for me, as it is for a lot of members of our community. I participated in a memorial ceremony today and read the names and stories of two individuals, a 15-year-old who died by suicide and a 25-year-old who was murdered.

Not only could I not find the front entrance to this Ballard brewery, but there is also a children's birthday party being hosted here?? Two dozen children are running around this brewery right now?? I am working very hard to withhold judgement but I am very much wondering...why.

Wow. While we wait for the few remaining ballots to be counted, we feel like we have won this race. The recent drop put us nearly 1,400 votes ahead, just under the .5 percent threshold for a mandatory recount.

The majority of my bus commute since the Montlake lid opened is just sitting in the HOV lane trying to get onto Montlake Blvd, with dozens of people on the bus held up by just a couple cars. This part takes longer than every other part of the journey combined. Efficiency!!!

This is a niche joke maybe, but I'm having one of those "the reading comprehension on this site is piss-poor" days while everyone around me is having a "how dare you say we piss on the poor!" kind of day.

This is not an encouraging headline. While the Link certainly has its issues, do people forget that the classic excuse for being late to something is "sorry, there was traffic"?

who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

"For the first time in history, people become dependent for their locomotion on a commercial source of energy.

When everyone claims the right to drive at the privileged speed of the bourgeoisie, everything comes to a halt, and the speed of city traffic plummets."

In social movement studies, we talk about how marches and protests expand the threshold of acceptable risk so that people take more and bigger social risks IN PUBLIC, EN MASSE. This is extremely important for the bourgeois white folks holding signs and building social rapport.
Not a shitpost: #NoKings is feel-good performative activism for comfortable mostly upper and upper middle class white folks and that’s good, actually. Millions of people in the streets protesting a fascist regime is good. It is good for the normie baseline to be massive displays of public dissent.

It's wild how many people I've talked with over the last couple weeks that just casually mention using AI for something that they could easily do themselves, or that already exists. It sort of shocks me every time. One of those "damn, I thought I could trust you" moments.

Capitol Hill is (arguably, of course) Seattle's best example of urbanism. I just wish the buses weren't so damn slow 😬
