For the record, I write a women’s basketball newsletter every weekday that very much has editors, and have worked as a freelance editor for another college hoops newsletter that, clearly, also has editors. So all you’ve really told me here is YOU don’t pay an editor for your newsletter lol

Something I believe deeply is the stock market is every bit as pernicious as sports gambling, it’s just been normalized so well for so long that we treat it as a natural phenomenon and not a man-made scourge we could get rid of.

Anyway, here’s what the AI boom is doing to real people:

There are no bad players on Dawn Staley’s roster, but she’s clearly struggling to figure out who can give her good minutes off the bench. South Carolina #NCAAWBB reserves have been outscored 53-19 by their three toughest opponents (USC, Duke and Texas). Could definitely use Kitts and/or Watkins.

Rori Harmon played all 80 possible minutes in Las Vegas to earn her giant MVP ring while Madison Booker and Jordan Lee each played 79 of 80. Rori might be a bit further down the scoring list, but that trio is the heart of a team that can win a #NCAAWBB natty.

Seven Nation Army sucks and should be banned from sporting events

You gotta hand it to South Carolina and Texas #NCAAWBB for finding a very roundabout way of celebrating the 20th anniversary of the last time they were together on Thanksgiving.

Newsletter’s paywalled, but I’ll post some more highlights ahead of their fifth matchup in 11 months this evening

Anyway, here’s “Taxes” and a few thousand New Yorkers experiencing precisely zero joy on Friday night
November 24, 2025 at 10:44 PM
I also thought Friday was an important night in the evolution of this UConn team, which probably won’t play a worse quarter all season than that 3rd quarter, but seemed to find its identity in the 4th. Sarah Strong is their unicorn, but when push comes to shove it’s Azzi’s team for now. #NCAAWBB

Ya know how I know Syla Swords is a Real Goddamn Hooper™️, as I said on Friday? Her biggest games in the maize and blue have come against three AP No. 1s and the top seed in the Big Ten Tournament. Nothing more important for a star to do than be at their best in the biggest spots. #NCAAWBB

Cat is good imo

Except the part where this didn’t happen and every time they’ve had a good play since going up 21-0 it’s been erased by a questionable penalty

Since Andraya was just gushing about Sarah Strong, lemme just add, from today’s newsletter, that she leads UConn in EVERYTHING, because she is RIDICULOUS #NCAAWBB

Michigan had almost no history against #NCAAWBB No. 1 teams before last November, but it’s suddenly piling up. UConn is playing its 10th game under these rankings-related circumstances in 10 seasons. What a wild comparison!

(I’m definitely going to hell)
November 21, 2025 at 7:22 PM
It’s been a minute since Iowa and Baylor played, and the last time it happened there was a 2019 Final Four berth at stake (Baylor would go on to win the #NCAAWBB natty). Not quite the same stakes tonight, but Baylor can secure multiple top-20 wins in November for the first time since 2016.

The only valid reason to have six pop-tart mascots is to make six sacrifices. It’s bullshit that five of the tarts survive.
