of course, and I would be very sad! Not sure it’d drive traffic like Lizza and Nuzzi though 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

lol that’s also entirely fair but I think there’s one bombshell that would truly rock the league (I would also absolutely never stoop to this obvi)

No offense to Sab but I don’t know that anyone’s gonna care very much if she cheats on Hroniss (but don’t do that Sab go ducks)

Wait there’s an extra asterisk on the last name (in other words it wasn’t Sabrina Ionescu lol)

I would LOVE for my belief that the NYT ruined the athletic to be a bit but i was a day 1 subscriber to that website and the decline was immediate when the times took over

*begging, autocorrect now brought to you by draftkings apparently

We all love an On3 graphic but I’m betting the theoretically serious sports accounts to at least consider that the giant EXTENSION with a WNBA ball might not deliver the correct message to someone mindlessly scrolling

That’s my point. This “deadline” slides until they can’t avoid losing or postponing games because they want to say they’ve never had a work stoppage, but if you’re 6 weeks removed from the finals and can’t even set expansion draft rules, you’re in a work stoppage.
December 1, 2025 at 5:07 AM
But none of this REALLY matters because they can do the whole offseason on a significantly shorter timeline than usual if needed (it’s pretty protracted under normal circumstances). I still think March 1 or so is the drop dead date for an on-time 2026 start.

They’re gonna use that whole window, because if they believed they’d have a deal done in the next two weeks, they’d have agreed to a shorter extension. If it isn’t done in two weeks, it isn’t done in December bc they’re all gonna take the second half of December off.

This is what I mean by functionally already being in a work stoppage
Assuming they use that whole window, that would already mean we're rearranging the offseason dates. Have to cement expansion draft rules, have everyone provide protected lists, negotiation period, then expansion draft itself. Typical offseason process start of Jan 11 wouldn't happen. #WNBA
Statement to ESPN from the WNBA: “The WNBA and WNBPA have agreed to extend the current CBA through January 9, 2026, with either party having the option to terminate the extension with 48 hours’ advance notice. The WNBA and WNBPA are continuing to work toward a new agreement.”

The main takeaway here is they want very badly to be able to come out on the other side of this negatiation saying they’ve still never had a work stoppage even though functionally they’re already in one
