Vouchers, Villains, and the War on Public Schools w/ Jasmine Bolton
In this episode, Paige sits down with Jasmine Bolton to unpack the ongoing attacks on public education, from efforts to eliminate the Department of Education to the growing push for school vouchers. They break down common misconceptions about the Department’s role, the real impact of vouchers on educational equity, and how these policies disproportionately affect students with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds. The conversation also explores the broader implications for democracy and why community engagement in public schools is more crucial than ever. Ultimately, making the case for why investing in public education is essential to building a more just and equitable society. New York's schools are the most deeply segregated in the nation. Now, with the intended dismantling of the DOE, the federal government wants to send us back to the days of "separate but equal."

We must protect New York’s constitutional guarantee of a free, secular, public education for all.

I have never seen anything so pathetically ridiculous

Trump staged students at desk pretending to do work when he signed the EO dismantling the DOE.

Propaganda to the nth degree.

Well it paid precisely $0 in federal income taxes last year.

Removing these commissioners has two purposes: 1) align control of key agencies with POTUS's priorities; and 2) provoke a lawsuit that will call into question the continued vitality of Humphrey's Executor, a key SCOTUS precedent that limits the president's power to remove government officials.
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.
