🚌Thx for sharing your ride on the (not express) airport route.

Disagree service “may be meeting current demand.” Demand is latent & correlates w/ frequency. We can’t judge need for a bridge by # of ppl swimming across a river.

If the bus ran more often, & were better promoted, more would use it!

Hey, what’s up Nashville!? We’re trying out the WeGo Airport Express (18) today. We’ll see how ambitious I am about posting as we go, but you can count on a trip summary outbound and inbound on this thread.

I understand the impulse to highlight the acceptable things that can be found in the "compact" and imagine how those could be built on.

But those elements are a disguise. The gov't doesn't care about them. The *purpose* of the compact is unconstitutional federal control over higher education.

Most MAGA pronouncements about the law have a solid grounding in fascist political philosophy, but no basis in actual law.

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.

The Trump administration’s deployment of ICE and others in the mass deportation effort has led to more violence and turmoil, and less safety and security for all, including US citizens. But that’s a feature not a bug. The chaos justifies further authoritarian crackdowns. The chaos is the point.

👇🎯 We really don’t need to be doing this “It’s only fascism if it comes from the Champagne region of France” thing again in late 2025. This is the point:
darinself.com
Yeah, came here to point this out. Fascism is an ideational framework for the structure of the nation, state, and economy.

It doesn't say anything about the capacity of the government.

What you're insinuating is a totalitarian regime with high repressive capacity

Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.
Tweet from the VP:
Joy Reid has had such a good life in this country. It's been
overwhelmingly kind and gracious to her. She is far wealthier than most.
Yet she oozes with contempt.
My honest, non-trolling advice to Joy Reid is that you'd be a much
happier person if you showed a little gratitude

It's one thing to talk about the 1 in 20 Americans who live in households without cars. But it's another to talk about all the people who live in households with fewer cars than people who need to drive to participate in an autocentric society, particularly kids, elders, and people w/disabilities.

One of the vehicles is a lifestyle choice, the other is practical transportation, yet our tax dollars are used to pay for the damage done by those subscribing to the vehicular arms race by choice.

Trump's higher ed ransom note is here - everyone would have to acquiesce to their unprecedented demands or not be "given priority for grants," plus they can demand "reimbursement" for "violations" www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

A mechanism to enforce fealty. An attack on academic freedom and democracy

8 of these cartoonish, victim-blaming signs have been installed at a Greenway crossing since Dot Dobbins was killed there by a driver on June 8, 2025.

In 1945 the Army had a manual that explained what a fascist America would be like. I dare you to look through it and tell me that it doesn't describe America today. You can look through the doc and analysis here: https://americanmanifesto.news/this-is-american-fascism
