Car-free streets? Bus lanes? Yes please!

We’re excited about the pilot projects bringing people-first street design to Broadway this month.

These are promising solutions on our city’s most visible street, and we hope they lead to long-term improvements and similar efforts around the city!

I think we all intuitively know that long commutes mean less sleep and poorer health outcomes. Researchers in Japan measured it, and a commute longer than 52 minutes is as bad as insomnia.

Building our city for long commutes is literally hazardous to our health.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out for our cargo bike event yesterday!

Turns out people in Nashville do ride bikes, and they do it with babies and toddlers and big kids and dogs and groceries and lots and lots of joy. ❤️

Yep. And there are two lanes for general traffic and only one for bikes. Plus tons of street parking and a whole parking lot right next door. Instead they always somehow manage to block the tiny bit of space that's *not* for cars

Year 3 of raising $ for Napier Fall Festival. A community in South Nashville.

Giving kids a Happy Halloween.
$ goes to:
pumpkins, cider, donuts, & face paint.

If we raise more it will go to other community needs like field trips for the kids.

We often assume seniors rely on driving and can't use active transportation for their daily needs, but often it's the reverse: many people become unable to drive as they age. This #WeekWithoutDriving, I'm thinking of my great aunt and others like her who get around without a car.

Every time.

We are constantly told how important community input is.

Until that input questions car dominance, then it's conveniently ignored.

City planners did all the overdone outreach process, got told everyone supports bus lanes, didn’t like that outcome so they opted for a closed door private meeting with the 4 people who didn’t like bus lanes and said we must cancel them

This is called reverse engineering
