Big Tech is driving up the cost of electricity, so we’re fighting back!

We’re launching Power Play NJ to lower energy costs by holding Big Tech accountable and bringing clean energy (and jobs!) to our state.

NEW:

There’s been a lot of discussion lately about rising graduate unemployment.

I dug a little closer and a striking story emerged:

Unemployment is climbing among young graduate *men*, but college-educated young women are generally doing okay.

Earlier today ICE agents hit someone with a car and tear gassed a neighborhood, sparking several fires and disrupting businesses.

Immigrants, by contrast, did not.

ICE is a much greater threat to this country than illegal immigrants. The current administration ia by far the greatest threat this country faces. The problem is not st our borders. It is in the White House.

from a young person, we just recognize when we’re being targeted to think or move a certain way. if it’s not natural and authentic i skip right over it. the young left also don’t follow “joe rogan-esque” people like the right does. we’re not on our knees begging to be noticed.

THIS!!! i read policy and im actively catastrophizing what the outcome will be or what’s missing to make better policy.

i cannot see AI benefiting communities. we could literally meet electricity demand without AI and continue electrifying and decarbonizing the economy. what do you think people were doing before us? AI was not in their toolbox.

AI and data center demand growth is a test. If we can't meet this growth in electricity demand, forget electrifying and decarbonizing the economy. This is only the start. Let it focus us on solutions! 🔌💡

🚨 New from me, Prof. @strubell.bsky.social, & CMU Heinz School Dean Ramayya Krishnan: how we handle AI and energy use foreshadows how we will deal with the broader electrification of the economy. If we get this wrong, a safe climate future will slip away. 🔌💡

The Trump Admin says LIHEAP is no longer necessary - it'll just do energy dominance instead, and anyway all poor people are con artists.

Meanwhile, utility rates are skyrocketing to feed Wall St. profits.

Ending LIHEAP would result in people freezing and overheating to death in their homes.
A screenshot showing the Trump Administration's proposed cut to the LIHEAP program of $4.025 billion.

Text: This Administration is committed to lowering energy costs for American families by unleashing energy production. The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is unnecessary because States have policies preventing utility disconnection for low-income households, effectively making LIHEAP a pass-through benefitting utilities in the Northeast. Further, LIHEAP rewardsStates like New York and California, two of the top recipients for LIHEAP funding, which haveimplemented anti-consumer policies that drive up home energy prices. The GovernmentAccountability Office (GAO) has raised significant program integrity concerns related to fraud and abuse in LIHEAP. In 2010, GAO investigators audited seven States and found names of 11,000 dead people and hundreds of prisoners used as applicants for funds. More than 1,000 Federal employees whose Federal salary exceeded maximum income threshold received benefits and, in several cases, people living in million-dollar houses received benefits. The Budget proposes to end this program and to instead support low-income individuals through energy dominance, lower prices, and anAmerica First economic platform.

This statement from the NSF is insane.

Science is, in essence, designed to separate the true from the false.

Understanding how falsehoods spread is key to the scientific endeavor. It is not a violation of free speech to be proven wrong.

negligible (insignificant amount of GHG will be produced compared to the way we produce energy now). we need to bring back critical analysis!

so if they want to halt offshore wind construction, based on the fact they think EIS analysis was rushed, why are they still using it to justify stopping them? wouldnt the EIS be null? additionally, “no collective impact to global warming” means it will not contribute to global emissions because its

environmental and energy policy should be driven by equity! there is no other way for me to think about policy solutions than justice and equity. it really is that simple and exactly why im getting a masters in energy policy to close that gap.

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens.

The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)
