22% of those infected with COVID get bad enough Long COVID that they must sacrifice 50% of their activities.
NIH recently found 1 in 22 ppl who’d had Covid developed ME/CFS. The “mild” form of that disease, as @julialmv.bsky.social’s graph shows, means losing capacity to do 50% of your daily activities.

What would you give up?

Friends? Time w/your kids? Could you cut work hours in half w/o losing yr job?

When climate deniers argue that atmospheric CO₂ was higher in the past, it's idiotic.

Humans evolved to live in the current climate, and we built our society and infrastructure accordingly.

The atmosphere didn't have oxygen billions of years ago, and we certainly don't want to return to that.
Earth's atmosphere hasn't had this much CO2 in millions of years
New data shows that CO2 levels have broken through 430 parts per million, an indication that human-caused global warming will continue to warp the environment.

In preparation for next week’s parade/demonstration, tanks are being moved into Washington, DC today. Unprecedented.

Big update to scienceimpacts.org: See the devastating impact of cancelled NIH grants across the country, and how losses at specific institutions ripple out to surrounding communities.

This is all in addition to the future losses that would result from cutting funds for indirect costs of research.

Certainly interesting Wikipedia discussions will come of this.
Also, and I'm curious to hear if any MS-13 experts know better, but I'm not even sure the gang has formal ranks. U.S. law enforcement seems to think so, but I don't trust that. And funnily enough, the Spanish Wikipedia page for MS-13 just added something on "ranks" YESTERDAY to account for this.

It's a direct attack on peaceful protest and student power.

Howard students demand justice— they’re calling on community to mobilize and defend the encampment.

This is a great articulation of why we need to deplatform fascists/supremacists rather than debate them. Debate is ONLY productive when all involved care about finding the truth or improving solutions. When the right "debates" their goals are to spreading propaganda & undercutting other ideas.
They aren’t “making a good point” when they offer their rationales. They are using things decent people desire as a cover and pretext for demolishing those very things. Do not agree with American fascists on anything. Give them the one thing they hate most: understand them for what they are.
