Merci, pourriez-vous confirmer si oui ou non vous avez dû confronter une pénurie d’eau cet été?

“Water reserves at an all-time low.” Hydro-Québec imports electricity.

Eyes wide open Canada 🇨🇦!

N’oublions pas ce que les serveurs informatiques nous coûtent en eau 💦

“Because conflict is often justified through historical narratives, and because cultural heritage is tied to identity and homeland, stories around cultural heritage may be purposed to either legitimate or exploit geopolitical aims.” —Mischa Geracoulis, human rights journalist
Framing Heritage Destruction as a Human Rights Violation
The way in which assaults on cultural and religious sites are presented to the public is critical to linking these attacks to atrocity crimes, a new book argues.

Yes Scott Stirrett! In 🇨🇦 16=taxes, keys to machines that kill, criminal responsibility, consent. Let’s solve for #DemocraticResilience earlier. Opinion: Canada should follow Britain and lower the voting age to 16
Giving 16- and 17-year-olds in Scotland the right to vote appears to have disrupted the typical decline in participation during early adulthood

Great leadership from the UK. We need to solve for democratic resilience earlier in the cycle, and research shows this is a winning path. C’est le moment pour le Canada de se joindre à cette évolution qui renforcera notre sécurité et notre bien-être! On y va #Vote16Canada 🇨🇦

Genuinely fantastic news, correcting the odd imbalance whereby Scottish (and Welsh) 16 and 17 year olds could vote in some but not all elections, and had a say over things like education, healthcare and income taxation, whilst their English counterparts did not.
Voting age to be lowered to 16 by next general election

Breaking
Around 1.5 million 16 and 17-year-olds will be able to vote at the next general election, under government plans to lower the voting age.

Democracy Minister Rushanara Ali tells the BBC the "seismic" change will ensure young people's voices are heard.

She confirms the pledge will be part of a raft of measures introduced through a new Elections Bill.

For forty years or more we've lived with the "more market, less government" nostrum.
Now that ethos is running on stilts, at exactly a time when demographics, climate change, AI, corporate concentration and rising geopolitical tensions are demanding more government, less market.

Democrats such as Trahan and Rep. Kathy Castor (D-Fla.) are hammering on examples of AI gone wrong, from a chatbot urging a 14 year old to kill himself, to AI voice clones scamming seniors, to algorithms wrongly denying people health benefits. They argue we need more consumer protections, not fewer.
