I'm exited to announce a new resource about making slides with quarto and revealjs. This book is the combination of all the work I have done in this area, reordered and polished up

There isn't a lot of new information yet, but this format allows me to add more easily

Biographies linked with publications show that mothers reach peak scholarly productivity later in life, declining until children reach school age, while fathers experience no change. The time costs of raising the baby boom generation led to a loss of female scientists thru failure to achieve tenure.

For Day 2 of our celebration of work using the Census Tree we highlight @lukestein.com & co's work on the gendered impacts of perceived skin tone. They find that among African Amer. sisters, women perceived to be darker-skinned were disadvantaged.

Incredibly excited for my brand new class at Rotman this fall: Progress! Econ history + theory + history of thought + philosophy on why rare orgs at rare times in rare places accomplish new things. Trying to put rigor onto an idea that is very much in the air. kevinbryanecon.com/Bryan-Progre... 1/3

There are several recent papers which could fall under the heading ‘Economic History of the Scientific Revolution’ but this network analysis tracing how scientific ideas diffused amongst scholars in the period 1084-1793 is a real milestone, an ‘epidemiological’ model of how ideas spread like disease

Belatedly doing my best to amplify this. Refine works, and I can totally see it becoming part of my pre-submission routine.

I've been working on a new tool, Refine, to make scholars more productive. If you're interested in being among the very first to try the beta, please read on.

Refine leverages the best current AI models to draw your attention to potential errors and clarity issues in research paper drafts.
