Sparta was always the right wing fever dream of a militarized society built on exploitation and rigid stratification - that never changed. It worked for a few generations until it didn’t but they were too conservative to adapt and then they became a historical footnote

Obviously Athens wasn’t an ideal society by any stretch (still displays all the exploitation and stratification of Sparta) but it’s pure cope to pretend that in the long run thy weren’t the more influential Polis.
