Photo from last night of me reading from GREYHOUND at the @fitzcarraldoeds.bsky.social launch. The photo was taken by the artist Robin Hunt. We met online via our photographs during Covid as we were both photographing our domestic spaces. It was really special to meet him last night.

I wrote about the Prespa lakes region in northern Greece for @theguardian.com today. At the crossroads of three countries and my home for the past quarter of a century, it's a place that continues to surprise me with its wild beauty and rich human cultures.

I wrote this essay about water & hope; imagining rivers “otherwise”; nature’s rights; grammars of animacy; & how our fate flows with that of rivers—& always has.

During the Chilean dictatorship, my great uncle hid some of his friend Pablo Neruda’s original drafts of stories and poetry, saving them from destruction. His house was searched while his then teenage son stayed out of the way, seated on the piano bench. The one place they didn’t search.
Give me one interesting fact about your family history that you learned.
