I'm sad to say that yesterday was my last day at The Hill. Tips on jobs/freelance gigs are very welcome right now.

It is very disappointing that The Hill's owner Nexstar thinks buying out/laying off reporters is appropriate, given everything going on in the world.

There are federal regulations in place for nursing homes, staffing and safety but not for assisted living residences. States are the ones that are typically responsible for overseeing those places, and their standards are low.

A few USAID workers have told me that they were forced through security and searched before entering the Ronald Reagan Building this morning. They also noticed that blue tape was placed over the full name of USAID engraved on a plaque next to the USAID Memorial Wall.
