Today I'm going to talk about mental health and how to cope with the ridiculousness of working in the arts. Writing (like any creative field) is not a meritocracy, it's subjective, which means success isn't a result of talent or hard work.

12. You can control who can DM you. Go to Chat (the speech bubble with 3 dots), then click the 'faders' icon in the top right to access settings, then you can choose who to allow messaging from:

- Everyone
- Users I follow
- No one.

11. I hadn't noticed this before, so it might be new or I might just not have paid enough attention, but... You can now mute words whilst allowing those words in posts from people you follow, so you can hear about $stuff from your friends, but not see strangers' posts retweeted into your feed.

Everyone who seriously pursues writing, and anyone who values thinking, should be deeply offended by, and implacably opposed to, the use of ChatGPT and all other LLMs to generate text for real world uses. There can be no negotiation on this point.

Against the dangers of controversy, my own take on what Bluesky should or should not be is as follows; it doesn't need to be 2012 Twitter, or even 2014 Twitter.
Bluesky has to be 2024 Bluesky.
Keep the simplicity and wholesomeness, leave aside the obsession with "growth mentality" and its money.
