this is who they are. theyve been like this for decades. whether its goldwater opposing civil rights, reagan attacking welfare recipients or wmds

Among Democrats - "Do you support Democrats like Sanders and AOC who call for a more aggressive stance towards Trump, or moderate Democrats who are willing to compromise with Trump issues important to their base?"

AOC/Bernie: 70%
Moderate Dems: 30%

If every Senate Democrat said, "we won't let Musk and Trump do what they're doing to famers, to social security, to cancer research and to every American's health without a hell of a fight" and just repeated that, they'd be shocked by how much of America would be on their side.
“.. We’re just in such a state of shock. We just don’t really even know how to respond,” Gilkerson said. “Everyone thinks all farmers voted for this, but we did not vote for this.”

The fight going on in the Democratic Party right now is not between hard left, left and moderate. It’s between those who want to fight and those who want to cave. And Team Fight stretches across all ideological aspects of the Party. Misread this at your own peril.

The Democratic Party’s problems are not about being moderate or left. That’s a consultant and pundit red herring

The problems are in party organization, the culture of “it’s their turn” nominations, candidate recruitment, gerontocracy, inability to shape media topics, and coming off hella lame

just understand that Schumer has ALWAYS operated by telling people what they want to hear right up until the last moment. his leadership is defined by saying what's necessary to avoid getting yelled at today no matter the costs tomorrow, and now it's leading to catastrophic results for all of us

If you want elected Democrats to reach regretful Trump voters, not to mention the tens of millions of much more important non voters, you give them an affirmative case for how you plan to improve their lives materially. And not some means-tested half measures either.

You are right. But it's 2025. Talking about it as if it will happen is how politics works. It also forces right wing media to talk about it and if there is enough Dem proposed legislation, Trump and Elon have to respond to the Dems rather than vice versa
Given that the Republicans have leadership & a majority in both chambers, such legislation proposals would just be symbolic efforts that won't even make it out of committee.

The root that tears apart your foundation begins as a seed of distrust, hate, and blame.

The seed that grew into a dictatorship in Europe didn’t arrive overnight.

It started with everyday Germans mad about inflation and looking for someone to blame.

I’m not revealing any great secrets here when I state that they WANT you to feel defeated. They want you to throw in the towel and just let them do whatever they like without resistance. If you’re tired, then rest, but don’t just lay down and die.
"Musk isn't going to obey the law, so who cares."

"The Supreme Court will just throw out the case, so who cares."

"Republicans aren't going to let us have elections, so who cares."

I'm blocking these people on sight now.

Doomerist defeatism isn't helping anyone here. Log off and touch grass.

If the current crop cannot demonstrate they care more about democracy than enjoying three-day weekends, we should flood the zone and challenge them all.
Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

Yesterday, Jeffries promised a "day of action" to focus attention on the funding freeze. You didn't hear about it bc they didn't organize it.
