"How can we take care of our mental health while either refusing—or being just plain unable—to adjust ourselves to injustice?"

mentalhellth.xyz/p/a-letter-f...
So again, if you find yourself wondering, after weeks or perhaps months of constant stress, maybe some panic attacks or lashing out at your comrades, or perhaps even waking up in the middle of the night terrified of jackboots at your door, if you are going crazy, I’d offer that maybe that’s the wrong question. The better question is, how can we take care of our mental health while either refusing—or being just plain unable—to adjust ourselves to injustice?

The first excerpt from our forthcoming book edited by @mskellymhayes.bsky.social, Read This When Things Fall Apart, is a letter by Aaron Goggans about how fascism warps consensus reality—and how organizers can learn how to live well outside of it, without letting conflict and trauma rip them apart.

University of Texas admins are confronting the collapse of academic freedom by creating a working group of people hand-picked by the administration to, at some point, craft a statement about "academic integrity".

Dear UT Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce a new initiative, inspired by conversations with faculty, that reaffirms our commitment to the enduring values of academic freedom and responsibility, and our shared calling to present our students with intellectually honest discussions of broad and varied perspectives in the classroom. Today, we are establishing a Faculty Working Group on Academic Integrity at The University of Texas at Austin.
The group’s charge is to develop a statement on academic integrity that affirms both the importance of academic freedom and its responsible exercise in teaching at UT.
We all recognize that higher education in general is under scrutiny. Some question whether our University has strayed from our duty to steward curiosity, open inquiry, and productive debate, while others worry that we have narrowed or even excluded opportunities for dialogue or dissent. This is not the Texas way.
We must define our character, or it will be defined by others. And how we live out that character in our classrooms will reveal our commitment. As the flagship university of our state and one of the world’s greatest universities, UT holds a critical position of public trust. That trust can be earned and sustained through a renewed commitment to academic integrity.
To guide this effort, I have invited a select group of faculty leaders, representing a broad range of academic units, to serve on the Working Group: The Working Group will be chaired by Provost William Inboden.
I want to express my gratitude to the members of this Working Group for offering their time and expertise to this important initiative. The future of our University is incredibly bright, and the establishment of our statement on academic integrity will serve our academic mission well for years to come.
Sincerely,
Jim Davis
President

Under Nazi rule, clergy who refused to support the regime were surveilled, arrested, assaulted, and in some cases, executed. The Nazis publicly aligned themselves with Christian values while targeting religious figures who defended the vulnerable or spoke against state violence.

This is one of the most encouraging trends I've seen. Refusing to indict cases of resistance against ICE terrorists and kidnappers is a valuable tool in our citizens' toolkit.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

When time permitted, we spent hours hiding and making sneak attacks on one another. The sand was fine and clean and, in the beginning of summer, we could find just about every imaginable kind of sea shell."

Assata Shakur--

It is now just a pale shadow of what it used to be, most of it destroyed by erosion. But back then there were majestic sand dunes covered with tall sea grass where my cousins and i would build forts, houses, and, sometimes, cities.

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.
The picture from
The article with a picture of an armed men standing in front of a burning donut shop. You must click through to read the caption “

The National Guard was called in to aid police during the second day of rioting in the city.”
