Hey look, it's @annikaai.bsky.social and me!
Public lands aren’t just scenic—they’re essential. They support rural economies, small businesses, and Veterans who find healing in these spaces.

Congress must keep public lands public—our communities depend on it. Don’t sell us out.

PLEASE SHARE.
Ask me how much I pay for my apartment in a walkable neighborhood of Chiang Mai.
If you want to do something like this, why not buy a $150k home in a small town in Italy, France, Spain, or Mexico, instead of having nine people share one bathroom after they eat at a restaurant called "Stinky's?"

TIL that the Silk Road never went away. It just shifted to the Dried Fruit Road. Our landlady owns a dried longan business.

Outfitting our new apartment like freshmen moving into the dorms. Four shopping carts of stuff. A Grab pickup got all of it, and us, home for ~$6.

A few weeks ago my wife mentioned that her friend might be the next mayor of Miami. We were trying to get everything together to move, and it was such a random thing to say that it didn't really register and I forgot all about it. Holy shit! Congratulations to Eileen Higgins and the City of Miami!

This is wild to me because when I went through that phase of adolescence where I was trying to get attention with shocking and offensive behavior I wrote Black Panther slogans all over my book covers. ✊
Who amongst us didn't sing Hitler youth songs and tell Jewish children they should go to the gas chamber?

Oh that's right, none of us did that, my mistake

The salespeople are following you around so that they can give you 50% off that cheese you were already going to buy, istg.
One thing that takes some getting used to in Thailand is that if you're in a department or electronics store the salespeople WILL follow you around and watch you. But it's not because they think you're stealing. It's because if you decide to buy something they want to get their commission.

we all got cowed into avoiding "virtue signaling" as if the public affirmation of socially agreed upon ethical principles was somehow cringey instead of a significant part of what a "society" even is. now all there's left is vice signaling, and it's reshaping society.

Restaurants in Chiang Mai don't bring the food for your table all at once. Dishes come out whenever they're ready. You just have to get used to it. Where we usually eat breakfast the beverages come after we've finished eating.

I gave away a brand new Brave Star selvedge jacket when I was packing to move. I just bought a Wrangler selvedge denim jacket at the mall for $56.44, marked down from $188.13.

I'm having a hard time accepting a "former MAGA influencer" who is now writing books and helping people cope with family members in the cult. I really want to believe in redemption, but how can I trust someone who *ever* believed that crap?

I happen to be in a place where I can actually be sent to prison for criticizing certain people. I have nothing but contempt for people who falsely claim that their speech rights are being infringed.
Also the implication that you can't criticize her, in a PUBLIC POST.

It seems a bit backward to me that smoking tobacco is allowed but cannabis is not. I would prefer neither. I don't mind walking around the block to burn one. It's the polite thing to do. The same is true for cigarettes.

Listen to @dzbillfulton.bsky.social and don't run in circles. Run in squares instead. Preferably along a moat around a 13th Century walled city.

The last funeral I attended I wore a medium grey suit because I was visiting from out of town and it's all I had. Folks were impressed that I showed up in a suit at all. Lots of men didn't. Yes I stood out but all the attention was positive.
You can always pick out the guy in the navy suit at the funeral
December 7, 2025 at 12:46 AM
I would say one grey and one navy; black optional. You can wear a navy suit to a funeral if you don't have a black one but a black suit is hard to wear out of context. I have one because I play in orchestras. You _probably_ don't need one. Also get a good navy blazer.
Buy two suits on black and one grey have them tailored leave room for future growth horizontally and you’ll never need to buy another one.

And listen to them, especially when they tell you to STFU.
Your attorney isn’t either but you should always have a good one on retainer.

You do not need to be friends with ppl to advocate for their safety and their needs to be met. And it’s actually a problem that we think we have to like ppl or be liked by them in order to fight for their rights!

You can actively dislike someone and still want them to be safe and cared for!
