What do these corporations have in common?

Netflix
Ford
Tesla
T-Mobile
Duke Energy
DISH Network
Metlife
Dominion Energy
United States Steel

In recent years, they all paid their execs more than they paid in taxes.

This is what a corporate-rigged system looks like.

"Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect."
I admit to being utterly bewildered by this new Trumpist conservatism that believes, on the one hand, that following the law is for suckers; while on the other hand believing that we need more policing and harsher penalties for violating the law. I don't understand how this coalesces into policy.

Tax works www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/11... Tax is the most powerful tool any government has to deliver change in the society it’s responsible for. The problem is twofold. First, too many governments think tax is just about raising money. Second, too few governments want to upset the status quo
Tax works
As I often note, there are six reasons to tax, which I usually summarise as follows in a way that reflects my thinking about modern monetary theory: 1) To ratify the value of the currency: this means ...

We have a properly warped perception of how much various sectors contribute to the UK economy. The fishing industry, which is constantly in the news and to whom politicians of all rosettes regularly play, adds less to GDP than Games Workshop

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s
