Harrowfield is a tiny village in the Marches, that wild strip of borderland between England and Wales. When Derwenna Parry’s brother goes missing whilst surveying farmland, she and his daughters head to the village to track him down. Midsummer approaches and, even though they find him unharmed, they become caught up in strange events which lead them to the Harrowing. An ancient act of penance … or sacrificial revenge?

I understand that. I probably wouldn't have got another dog after Hans, but I'd just taken in a rescue dog before he died. It was like he trained the new dog in before he left.

I trained Hans 2 carry messages 2 people hiding around the house or garden.
Once, when playing the game with visitors, my sister’s dog wanted to take part. Without any training of this sort, she copied Hans, carrying paper notes back and forth with her hero.

I’ve no way of explaining this, but it happened multiple times to other people, not just me.
If Hans asked for a run or walk, & you told him no, not until x time, he would settle down & come back to ask again at the exact time you told him.
