Hi. 👋 It's nice to get a little influx of new followers. I'm Adam and, as you can see, I'm a town planner with a particular interest in how urban design and infrastructure can deliver climate solutions. Looking like a long-lost member of the Village People is an added perk of the job.

In Glasgow, there is a 224-year waiting list for gender clinic appointments.

224 YEARS.

This is institutionalised discrimination. It's unacceptable, it's ruining people's lives and it needs to change.

We have the solution. Time for politicians to act.

Gender Clinic Files: Some people in Scotland will never get a gender clinic appointment on a 224-year waitlist.

This system is failing to support people to transition not because it is broken, but by design. The frustrating thing is that this would not be a difficult problem to solve under a different political paradigm.

Trans+ people do not need to be assessed by gender clinics or diagnosed by psychiatrists to tell us what we already know: we are trans. The healthcare we need, especially when it comes to hormones, is already available to cis people through making an appointment with their GP.

Gender clinics are unnecessary and exist to segregate healthcare for Trans+ people. Abolishing this system and providing Trans+ healthcare in primary care, at the GP through an informed consent model, would solve many of the issues this data reveals. GPs already prescribe hormones to cis adults. Trans+ adults simply need the same access to this healthcare.

The recent broadening of the focus of his music couldn't be better timed. From his personal grief to the collective horror at societies' descent towards ethnonationalism, I'm not aware of any other artist who's capturing this paragidm with such eloquence in one moment and such rage the next.

For Those I Love performing in Glasgow last night. A poignant, raging, climactic exploration of grief. Love with nowhere to go, so music becomes the outlet. Just an astonishing performance from an artist unlike any other and one of the best gigs I've ever seen. A reminder that I'm choosing to live.

Just a little observation, but today we have the SNP arguing in favour of continued oil and gas exploration while Labour gives the green light to another runway at Gatwick—and still media types will ask Greens what makes them unique "now that all the other parties have adopted climate policies".

Today I had the most unreal urbex at Govanhill Baths. On its day of closure, local residents began what became the longest occupation of a public building in British history. It has yet to brought back into use—except as a potent symbol of the UK's crumbling public services in the neoliberal age.

Gig night. I cried twice during the show. Soft af, me.

I hate having to navigate a sea of tripods just to go lift. I miss the days when Instagram was images rather than "content". There's gotta be something better than the influencer-industrial complex to make people feel like they've made it in the world.

(Fwiw, I mentally filed the same journalist in the "unreliable" box after he uncrtically repeated prejudiced talking points against the LGBT community on his show.)

My quads have just about recovered from biking 22 miles up and down Glencoe at the weekend, but I swear the endorphins are still rattling around.

My trusty steed (a.k.a. my bike) on the road up to Loch Achtriochtan. The jagged Aonach Eagach ridge is on the left and the rushing River Coe is on the right.

When colleagues and I wanted to change Green Party policy on HS2, we humanised the effects of the northern legs' cancellation: the increased fares for a Welsh person with caring responsibilities in the Midlands; the increased air pollution for working class communities in Manchester, etc. It worked.
