Morally wrong

This has been the vicious fucking thing about the "Jobseeker Benefit" ever since Paula Bennett coined it in 2013

In addition to keeping people in poverty it's been a term of propaganda forcing us all to accept the frame of welfare as economic obligation instead of social support

Fucksake. It's quite clear now that they only looked at this benefit policy as political marketing and took no advice on who it would impact – which includes young people with serious health issues and disabilities. Just feckless and cynical. Shame on them. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Couldn’t find any terfs on ours thankfully. That doesn’t mean there weren’t any lol. For the regional council one persons blurb read like it was all about the “vibe” and how things feel etc. Was hilarious to read.

There were tonnes of red flags in ours, lots of reduce rates, back to basics, a couple of known anti vaxxers, and heaps of “I run a business” so elect me types.

We spent over an hour sorting ours last night, think L, Ben and I all voted the same people just slightly different preferences numbers. There were 37 candidates to sort out. I only ranked 13.

Backing the teachers big time. The govt needs to wake up and listen but it won’t so we keep losing good teachers. Teacher shortage is just going to grow.

It can print black on its own too :) ours is an older model so not sure how good it is reviewed wise.

We have an epson ecotank. For straight black we have a brother laser printer (cos hubby found it cheap and I print patterns at 20-50 pages each time)

K is working a minimum wage job and paying $415 a week rent. My 20yr old is still at home and working 2 part time jobs and studying fulltime. My son is 18 soon. I am most worried for him as studying isn’t a great option right now. Ms nearly 16 is happily still at school.

I moved out at 19, then back home after a couple of months and was a yo-yo for a while. I was studying in the same town as my parents though so I had a safety net. One of my kidults has struggled being away from us and quit uni for a while. It’s bloody hard being young.

I left home to study in another city when I was 18. It was a huge challenge. And that was staying in a hostel where I didn't have to worry about bills (except for hostel fees) or cook my own food.

It's too easy to suggest that young people should just move. They need a heap of support. 1/3

We don’t spend that on food as a family of 5 with three teens. You learn to adjust your habits to fit the income.

They must be, or she’s paying way too much for things
azlemed04.bsky.social
She needs to change insurance, power and internet companies if she’s paying that much. $380 a week for food for 2 seems a lot. My parents don’t spend that and they are pensioners

The fat phobia and the “you are anxious” are the ones that piss me off. Fingers crossed Dr Phil is Okayish.

We need the opposition to be vocally saying the changes to jobseeker benefit for 18/19yr olds is morally wrong and that they will reverse it. Come on @chrishipkins.bsky.social get onto this.

“The world doesn’t owe you a living,” has to be the most mean-spirited thing I’ve read in some time.

Just how many ways CAN you say, “Go and die in a ditch” to the unemployed?
azlemed04.bsky.social
That is really sucky. Sending love to you all.

'We want young people in work, in training or other ed' says the man whose government halved the apprenticeship boost allowance and moved fees free to year 3 along with destablising Polytech learning.

It is completely unconscionable to require job losses for the economy to function (supposedly) and then to blame them for their own unemployment that they DID NOT CHOOSE.

My GP has just gone on maternity leave. She was the replacement when my previous one went on sabbatical. Hate having to build that new relationship with them.

It’s so unnecessary, he will be ok for next year if he needs it and we hope he can find a job but it sucks.
