Say what you will about New Zealand and there’s certainly a lot to say but at least our govt doesn’t randomly run out of money and shutdown and stop functioning. The United States Congress is somehow more incompetent than Nicola Willis. Can you imagine.

It’s actually nuts that I exist in New Zealand because we don’t have any meaningful diplomatic relationships with Bangladesh even tho I think NZ was one of the first countries to recognize BD as a country. No embassy. Like how am I even a kiwi. How did I get born here. I guess it was meant to be.

Trying to explain that my father is a NZ resident and I’m a NZ citizen but I want to send my partner who is a US citizen to Bangladesh and the person was like wow that’s quite the international family like yes we can’t all be perfect little same race/nationality people man borders are so dumb.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. Listen the GBM refers to me as his partner despite being married cause 1) he noticed it was more the norm here & 2) we got married because our families are v traditional I’m ambivalent to the institution but when Winston referred to his partner I raised a brow 😅🤨 wdym he has a girlfriend at his age.

Just thinking about how when my grandma died in the 80s my dad couldn’t go to Bangladesh. He was a grad student at Lincoln and it was not feasible for various reasons. Generational curses are real I guess.

The three achieved more diplomatically than the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Perhaps he should reimburse NZ for funds wasted on his UN trip last month, so those resources cover their return flights. After all, they had their own transport until unlawfully detained by another government.
