Classic big tech. It’s not enough to destroy the planet, everyone else has to subsidize it too.

37 states have passed legislation specifically granting sales tax exemptions for data centers.

Among the beneficiaries of these exemptions are Amazon, Meta and Google, all companies worth over $1 trillion.

“Never before have we issued a joint public warning like this. But the profound, immediate and unprecedented threat that Kennedy’s policies and positions pose to the nation’s health cannot be ignored.”

We took an oath to declare dangers when we found them. We’re doing that again today.

🚨THIS IS A BIG DEAL. Chicago journalists are suing the Trump administration for using excessive force against reporters & protestors in violation of the 1A.
The press here is doing astounding work documenting how ICE is out of control. The violence they face in doing so is obscene.
The protests at the Broadview ICE facility and the federal government’s violent
attempts to silence the protesters became a story of great interest to the local Chicago media and
was also covered in the national press. Much of the coverage described the federal officers’
abusive tactics. Defendants sought and are seeking to quash this coverage by attacking and
intimidating members of the Press on the ground there.
85. Federal immigration officers at the Broadview ICE facility have repeatedly and
intentionally singled out persons whom they know to be members of the Press for violence,
assault, and intimidation. These assaults are not incidental or unintentional. They are undertaken
by design to intimidate journalists on scene and to frustrate and suppress coverage of the federal
officers’ actions toward protesters and immigration detainees

This is like planting evidence and then making an arrest.
The image is an X post by Acyn (@Acyn
) from 13 hours ago, quoting Pritzker: "He's saying that Chicago is a war zone. None of that is true. They're just making this up. And then what do they do? They fire tear gas and smoke grenades, and they make it look like it's a war zone." The post includes a screenshot from CNN's "State of the Union" showing two individuals discussing, with a chyron indicating DHS officers fired at a driver who rammed their vehicle, later determined to be someone trying to storm the Presidential Palace, as the South Caucasus Coalition.

GenAI books are popping up everywhere, especially nonfiction and kidlit. And especially on Amazon. You can usually tell by the cover, but if you're piling stuff into a cart without looking into the titles or buying off a bulk list from a vendor, they're going to slip through the cracks.

Really want to encourage libraries - especially school libraries - to put no-AI content into your collection development policy. At the very least, if you have a clause in there about requiring accurate information, you can use that to weed out or prevent genAI purchases.

“When you get a suspicious book, “you look it up to see what else the [author] has written. And you see there's 30 things, and none of them have any reviews, and they were all written in the last two years,” DeMeester-Lane says.”
How Local Librarians Keep AI Slop Off the Shelves
AI is being used to create nonsensical, sometimes dangerously inaccurate books. Local librarians are tasked with keeping these volumes out of their collections.

Kamala Harris warned us that Trump would turn the military against civilians. She warned us that he would pursue Project 2025. The media mocked her, but she was dead right about both.

One thing that comes through awfully clearly in these ICE videos is how many of these goons gravitated toward the job because being able to assault people with impunity is a big thrill for them.

Washington Post dismantled the platform Jamal wrote on. Discarded the fellowship they created in his memory.

They fired me unjustly for speaking the truth.

But I’ll never stop talking about my friend, writer, and amazing human, Jamal Khashoggi.

RIP, Jamal.

The Right’s idea of free speech is the freedom to call marginalised people slurs without facing public consequences. The Left’s idea of free speech is challenging power and systemic abuse without being arrested. I hope that clears things up for the intellectually disingenuous.

lol I may get in trouble (also probably not good for book sales) but:

The white diaspora, globally, has directly or indirectly benefited from the subjugation, dehumanization, and humiliation of people unlike them. Your heroes were not messiahs, they were menaces. Like consistently. #blacksky

ICE boats trawling the Chicago River. This is the DUMBEST thing I've seen in my entire life. No exaggeration. What's next? Humvees loaded with armed, masked agents patrolling Disney's Main Street U.S.A.?

Yesterday, Meta unveiled a new "feed" on its platforms that will exclusively feature AI-generated videos.

This overshadowed another big announcement...

On Tuesday, Meta launched a super new PAC geared towards electing politicians that will block any AI regulation.
