The Countryside Alliance are once again talking out of their (top) hat.

80% of the public, rural & urban, think fox hunting should remain illegal.

The ‘rural culture war’ is a myth, as @jon-moses.bsky.social shows here: national.thelead.uk/p/the-rural-...

The Salmon & Ball at Bethnal Green was originally established as a pub in 1733 when the area was populated by silk weavers. It was the site of a hanging in 1769 of two weavers accused of involvement in forming a trade union.

80% of the UK have consistently wanted fox hunting to be banned - it is a vile and embarrassing tradition carried out by a tiny minority of cruel people. It has been illegal for years but continues to be celebrated by these people and illegal hunts still rip beautiful foxes apart alive.

Another campaign to go peat free, it only takes a second, please sign (link in comment below). Such an easy step we could take to address both climate and biodiversity crises.

❄️ Please avoid foraging on our reserves this winter! Berries, seeds & fungi left in nature are vital food for wildlife during the hardest time of year. Foraging also damages habitats and takes away the magic for other visitors. 💚

That holly in your house? Its white flowers fed pollinators earlier in the year and the red berries now are the leftovers. The holly blue butterfly feeds on its leaves when they are caterpillars.

2026 outlook not good, but who knows, Trump could drown in a cesspit, Putin could be overthrown by revolution or the UK and EU economies could miraculously recover. 🙏😊

The Hyde Park Screen was created as a grand approach to Buckingham Palace, and the south-east entrance into Hyde Park. It was designed by the 25-year old Decimus Burton and completed in 1828. The frieze above the central arch was inspired by the Elgin Marbles.

Thank you everyone for getting this close to 2,000 signatures in the last few days 🥰
It’s a sad indictment of Britain’s ignorance of nature that Sycamore Gap petitions - for a tree that mattered to humans but not nature - received tens of thousands of signatures but a petition to protect entire peatland habitats is stuck at 1,500 actnow.peatfreepartnership.org.uk/end-peat-sal...
Sign the petition to end peat sales!
No more delays: Let's get peat out of gardens once and for all. The time for uncertainty has ended.

Insects have different life stages and can look wildly different as larvae and adults. It’s thought that this is to avoid competition for food resources between parent and offspring! Certain hoverflies eat garden pests such as aphids as larvae but nectar and pollen as adults.
