Many insects hibernate over winter, but bumblebees and butterflies may emerge during mild spells and will look for food. So growing nectar-rich, pollinator-friendly plants is especially important in winter and early spring.

The definition of ‘grey belt’ is vague. This risks opening up Green Belt land to unnecessary development. We're supporting CPRE Hertfordshire's petition in calling for change. Sign the petition.

We have seven nest boxes and four had been used.
During our annual nest box cleaning an agitated red-tailed Queen bumblebee flew out of one and flew around until we had finished and went back in! Alas no photo of her.

#welcometoyorkshire moors burnt releasing carbon into the atmosphere to create habitat for tens of millions of non-native birds released into the wild each year. Reducing habitat and food for native wild birds and animals. Passed 20-30 dead pheasants run over on roads. Some traditions aren't good.

A raspberry isn’t one fruit, it’s dozens of tiny ones! 🍓 (well, technically “drupelets”).

If pollination is uneven, some drupelets don’t develop, leading to “wonky” fruit. A flower that has received plenty of insect visits is less likely to be wonky.

One of the things I love about London is how inconquerable it is. There's just too much of it to ever believe you'll discover it all. I first stumbled on this mosaic a few months ago, about a minute's walk from the flat I've lived in for 8 years.
