I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but if even if you're not an artist, that goofy meme idea in your head will be a thousand times funnier if you just do a crappy drawing of it yourself vs using generative A.I.

i'm so over games that are "masterpieces" or "hidden gems". i want games that frustrate me in compelling ways. i want jank so i can feel i'm in an imperfect world like the one we live in. i want stilted but earnest writing. i want weirdness and incoherence.

perfection is good, but uninteresting

A good book is one you have fun reading

Art is subjective. What's bad to me will be good to someone else and just because I think something is subjectively bad doesn't make it objectively bad

There are books that are absolute trash fires and I love them (they're usually litrpg)

As a reminder when considering your boycott efforts and where to spend your dollars…
yes, we loathe Amazon and Bezos. Sadly, this is the BEST avenue for indie authors to get their books seen. If you find a book you want on Amazon, consider reaching out to the (indie) author directly (1)

If you make art (any art! Not just visual), no matter how big your audience or if you think you're "successful" or "enough", you are giving people the energy to get through another day.

You're part of the reason folks have an easier time holding on.

Keep creating!! Your art matters!!!

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.

Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

Went on a date night to the local pinballnasium, and the new X-men rocks. The theme does nothing for me, but man, that layout is wacky! The ramps are crazy, the danger room is super fun, and the features were accessible even to our mediocre skills. 10/10, would tilt off one ski pass again

Creativity is like a houseplant, not an endless well. You need to seek out sunlight, water, and nutrients in art, shows, music, experiences, and more to tend to it. And just like plants it has its dormant and active periods and you may not seem improvement for some time.

Reminder:

Can we stop judging people for what they read?
If you enjoy reading “dark” or “twisted” storylines it does not mean you have trauma or need therapy.

People can separate fiction from reality. Liking a genre does NOT mean you want that in real life.

Judge less. Read more
