Pro-tip: make a special ballot signature and take a photo of it to reference when you vote. An election clerk suggested that to me years ago bc my signatures never matched and I kept having to go to the Elections Office to fix my ballot. Haven't had an issue since.
If you’re like me and have a dogshit signature (or dysgraphia, having both is real fun) you should check online to make sure your ballot was counted! www.vote.org/ballot-track...

When I said abortion would determine this election, this is NOT what I meant.

I'm staring straight at white women who did this. Abortion won't stay safe in your state if Trump is in office.
Ticket splitting voters, who backed pro-abortion ballot initiatives and anti-abortion politicians, seem like a major theme of the election so far.
AP calls it for Missouri -- their abortion rights ballot measure passes!

Fun thing to realize: many local and state archives and cultural/arts spaces get a lot of their funding from the federal government. Guess what happens when the feds start refusing to fund anything they label as "DEI".
Thinking long term one thing we will need is archives, analog archives. The instability and malliability of digital media and digital culture means that we need to document queer, trans, black, indigenous, asian, latinx, & disabled lives in ways that leave a record for those that come after us.

If your name has ever been on a book cover, join us at AuthorsAgainstBookBans.com to get into the fight.

They're going to be defunding our institutions of public learning and using book bans to do it. We can't let them.

Past the first few more vague "feelings" based suggestions, there is a lot of really solid stuff in here.

(The feelings stuff is important too, but wanted to note there is a lot more practical stuff too.)

Now more than ever is the time to stop clutching your pearls over queer art and fiction that you find "uncomfortable". You can, will, and have contributed to the mindset that queer art deserves censorship.

Let people be freaks. DEFEND your freaks. Embrace the freak you've been hiding inside.
Getting your freaky, fucked-up, queer, messy art out into the world is more important than ever

My fellow librarians, today would be a good day to put up a display on protest and resistance, on books by and about trans identity, or books about overthrowing an empire.

I’m a public librarian in a degenerating democracy, and I am pleading: Care about your library. Use it. See what programs and events it offers. And pay attention to its governing body. See who the trustees are. Consider running yourself. Libraries will need all the community support they can get. 📚

Masks work, and now is a better time than ever to start wearing them if you’ve stopped. Trump intends to throw out the ACA and let the pre-existing condition exclusions come back. You don’t want long Covid, but you REALLY don’t want long Covid and no health insurance.
