i got my MA from Bath uni recently, which it turns out he's the chancellor for so he was the one presenting the degrees, and i dont think any of the graduates (including myself) even recognised who he was lol

FINALLY had the free time to read something else, so I spent December and January working my way through The Anarchy: The Relentless Rise of the East India Company (2019) by William Dalrymple. A solid introduction to a period I really need to read more about.

at the climate movement. they haven't done anything even vaguely violent, and there's no real drive to change that fact, which means they can (and have been) be safely ignored.

less reason to stay away from more radical and violent tactics and groups. there were tons of riots throughout the civil rights era too, which furthered its goals by holding tax-generating white-owned property to ransom. if you want to see where completely, totally peaceful protest gets you, look

the peaceful protest of the civil rights era only worked because there were people using violent methods too - MLK himself talks about it in his birmingham jail letter. the peaceful stuff worked because, if the government made peaceful resistance impermissible, the peaceful protestors would have
