This brewery closure is hitting me hard. Upright was one of the US breweries that inspired me to open Dageraad. Alex is an incredible brewer and I was lucky enough to have brewed two collabs with him. He taught us a ton and inspired a lot of our spiced beers. I'm mourning a brewery and an era.

Damn, Upright was one of the most interesting breweries I’ve been to. The White Truffle Gose was one of the most mindblowing brews I’ve had. Wish I had visited more often on trips to PDX. Also I think I lost a favorite hat there—if anyone finds a gray wool flat cap while cleaning out, that’s mine 😄

Ohhhhh this one hurts. Found them for the first time at the PSU Saturday Market in '09 and didn't realize I bought a bottle of Four from THE Alex until later in life. Completely unique and it will be a loss for the area when it's gone.
