Living in #HamOnt, I live by values of community, empathy, care. Monitoring politics constantly. Trying to focus on what I can control and how I can contribute.

This reminds me… anyone in #HamOnt have tips on how to get the Hunter Bike lane counter to work? I’ve biked by so many times and the counter never changes. I’ve been standing by it while cyclists go and don’t trigger it either. Where is the sensor?
Montreal’s REV Saint-Denis is the third busiest bike lane (with a counter) in North America, behind two NYC bridges.

Summer volumes are even quite competitive with bike counters in Europe.

Thoughts while running: as our population ages hospitals/palliative services should consider adding co-working spaces for the families of patients who need to juggle work. Many would pay a fee to be able to work and be at hospital for key appointments and updates on their loved ones.

Canada's exploding wealth inequality requires tax changes
Our current tax code is not asking the wealthy to reinvest in our economy, and that failure is weakening services and programs working Canadians may use to get ahead.

If you live in Ward 8 in Hamilton, this is the kind of person who was taking action before even thinking about running. She’d be a great councillor!
Truly inspired by my dear friend Lohifa for the vision of Excel in Style. Bringing together over 67 stylists and barbers focused on textured hair to create 250 styles. She brought the community together to celebrate black and racialized youth, creating lasting mentorship and friendship.

Once again with unparalleled municipal election coverage, @joeycoleman.ca has done residents of Ward 8 a huge service by doing the 155 Podcast. I hope many in Ward 8 will listen to the podcasts. Thanks as always Joey!
The Ward 8 by-election special edition of The 155 Podcast is now available wherever you listen to podcasts. #hamont #yhmcc

This was an inspiring story. I started running as a way to get to know Burlington when I moved there without a car. When I traveled for work I always packed my runners to see more of a place. Running is an amazing way to explore cities! Running for a good cause is even better!
This man is running every street in Toronto. He’s not letting a brain cancer diagnosis stop him.

Since 2022, Carlo De Lorenzi has been on a mission to run 10,390 streets. After taking a break for chemo, he’s back at it, but “I’m on a time clock.”

Can’t wait for 2-way Main St in #HamOnt to make it safer and revive the streetscape.

Thankful for leaders
@nrindernann.bsky.social @ward1wilson.bsky.social who pushed this through!
Broad Street used to be one of the most dangerous streets in Rhode Island.

Between 2012 and 2017, it was the site of 84 serious car crashes involving people walking or biking.

Morning visitor! Staying cool like the rest of us are trying to!

Honest question @joeycoleman.ca @nrindernann.bsky.social: does @cityofhamilton.bsky.social not have on-call comms staff on weekends? Trying to share info to community pages and there is nothing on city socials about the heat warning. Other cities posted yesterday. Guelph posted ahead with resources.

Our local Little Free Library is in a Park. Many neighbours have stewarded this library over the years. The latest etched “Little Library” into new glass, installed a latch and an overhang, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. Love that it’s truly a community space! Thank you neighbours! #HamOnt

I was talking with someone about the person who “hooked” you into party politics. For me, it was @karinagould.bsky.social. Proud to see her reelected! She works so hard and we all benefit from her energy and devotion to Canada and Burlington! Congratulations Karina!

Happy Election Day!
Here’s a reminder of why voting matters and what we are voting to protect and strengthen.
“My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world.”
— Late NDP leader Jack Layton

I voted at a returning office. DYK you can vote at any returning office in Canada? You have to write in the candidate’s name if it’s not in your riding. Visiting with family today? Consider an outing to a returning office. I saw people voting with out of town family yesterday. Go democracy! #elxn45

Half of business owners on this Toronto street estimated that more than 25% of their customers arrived by car.

In fact, it was 4%.

And the % of customers who who walked or cycled? 72%.

In 2014 I met a woman a woman at a Tim Hortons on Brant St in Burlington. We had tea for an hour or so and I asked her some very pointed questions about her and the @liberalca.bsky.social of Canada on a range of topics that mattered to me. That woman was @karinagould.bsky.social 🧵… 1/
