One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Both the "Continue" button and the "Try it now" button do *the same thing* in what is the clearest example of a dark pattern I've ever seen. Imagine someone is getting metrics about the "number of Google Docs users who are using AI" and all the numbers are total bullshit.

It’s so funny how the alleged selling point of GenAI is that it’s so easy to use and saves you so much time but whenever a company uses it to make the worst ad you’ve ever seen, they try to justify it by talking about how difficult and time consuming it was to make
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

What on earth is going on with this Bears clock management

Watching American sports used to be a nice reprieve from all the gambling ads on Premier League coverage…

TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

Does John Harbaugh start each team talk by telling his players that time is an illusion? Ravens are consistently awful at managing the clock

JOSH ALLEN YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND
December 7, 2025 at 9:07 PM
Josh Allen doing Josh Allen things. Now I need the Bills D to not do Bills D things and actually get a stop/turnover here cuz based on how the game has gone so far, there’s a good chance Allen doesn’t even see the ball again today

Yeah that’s fine. Call a defensive timeout. Not like we’re gonna need them later. Definitely gonna stop them now

Dats da Bills, baby (derogatory)
December 7, 2025 at 8:11 PM
The weirdest part of these WR screens the Bills insist on running is that Josh Allen is really bad at throwing them. He regularly throws it out of reach or just close enough that receiver barely catches it after a big adjustment.

Just a bad play from top to bottom for this team
Never seen a guy love a play that never works like Brady loves that receiver screen

Myles Garrett is closing in on the single season sack record and it’s pretty much irrelevant as a storyline because the Browns are lucky to be 3-9. Such a waste of one of the best players in the league

Same goes for Irish politicians, if they want it. Just point to the US and say “look where this inevitably leads”. But no, they love dialling up the racism machine

it does feel like an intense societal problem that the founder of palantir, the biggest survellience company, thinks like this

If you call it a “male immaturity epidemic,” a very different set of phenomena come into focus, as this thread shows
I'm starting to wonder how much "the male loneliness epidemic" is just straight and bisexual women identifying low-effort, mean, and incompetent men and choosing not to date, marry, and tolerate them anymore

The most entertaining part is that they could increase funding to properly pay and equip our defence forces without needing to touch the triple lock. The fact that they haven't and none of them are advocating that demonstrates how the only thing they want is to sit with the "bigger boys". Pathetic
The Irish commentariat has gone into overdrive, not just misinforming but outright lying about threats to our security.

What makes it worse is that this small handful of people with paid column inches, media appearances & think tanks dismiss the majority as 'lecturing' others.

one of many parallels between anti-vaxxers & those who oppose gender-affirming care: they start by pretending they have a very specific concern (MMR vaccine, puberty blockers, etc), but once given any sway or say on the matter, they quickly strive to eliminate all of it
Kennedy's zombie ACIP panel just voted to restrict hepatitis B vaccine for newborns. Experts say it will harm children for no reason. www.ms.now/news/rfk-cdc...

ACIP member Dr. Cody Meissner:

"'Do no harm' is a moral imperative. We are doing harm by changing this wording. And I vote no."
RFK Jr.’s CDC panel: No more hepatitis B vaccine for some newborns
The CDC's vaccine advisory panel, stocked with anti-vaccine activists and loyalists to RFK Jr., voted Friday to stop recommending a birth dose of vaccine.

racists roll their eyes at this, they're not happy with any message short of 'send them all back' & they don't trust labour trying to pander to them. people who aren't racist recognise this as divisive patronising nonsense. labour's approval rating is 12% and i'm surprised it is that high
This is so disgusting.
