Surprisingly few years ago opening on Stephens Day sales wasn't a thing and I worked in the only shop on Henry Street (Gamestop) open that day, we closed after 2 hours because the place was JAMMED and unsafe and everyone was screaming for discounts on things we didn't sell.
People should have to do a stint in retail so they can learn to be friendly to retail workers, yes. But people should also do a stint in retail so they can easily recognise bullshit sales days for what they are

Media literacy is down, so to be clear, when the WSJ writes “Ultimately, the fact pattern Meta relies on to meet its conflicting objectives strains credibility” about your accounting practices and runs an accompanying flowchart, that is the equivalent of a 500-foot neon sign reading “FRAUD”
This feels like one of those stories you're going to look at a year from now and say to yourself, "Why didn't I move more of my portfolio into cash?" **

Paul Reynolds just described Coolock as being in “Dublin’s north inner city”. It’s interesting when you see someone’s verbal muscle memory in action

Well, my public sector friends, John Collison can say what he wants about red tape but the last two times I used his poxy money transfer service for large payments it didn’t work and took hours out of my life. Dickhead

I don’t care if it’s framed in stupid gendered terms. I’m seeing discourse about microwaving fish in the workplace and I think we should all agree not to do this ever

When it stopped raining yesterday, I went outside to get a lap of sunlight and fresh air and saw an eejit baby seagull trying to eat a 2” off cut of wood and it wouldn’t give up. It was highly entertaining and probably an important life lesson. Probably to stop for a moment and just give up

We wish the very best for their future to President Michael D Higgins and Sabina Higgins as they leave the Áras for the last time. President Higgins opened the doors of Áras an Uachtaráin to us, to many of the brilliant Palestinian speakers, artists, lawyers and activists that came here to advocate

In Michael D Higgins we have been lucky to have a President for the last 14 years who not only had such a keen appreciation of history but in labour history, not least during the decade of centenaries. It’s easy to take it for granted now but I always thought how easily that might not have been so.

Missed The Ivy latest. Turns out the tipping out system means managers are getting tips but not kitchen staff. So the people who do the roster get tip money but not the KP.

My mum just said to me "You should be hung like a horse". When I challenged her over saying such a thing, it transpires she thought it was a punishment horses got. Turns out she's been incorrectly using the phrase since the 90s in various settings

Without casting any obvious aspersions on that the Progress outfit the last two times I had to use Stripe it got large transactions it didn’t work and I had to spend an hour in the bank did one and go into town to the shop for the other. So *my* suggestion would be make your shit work better.
