I get wanting to make a new version of Cape Fear - we are now somehow further from the Scorsese remake than it was from the original - but why does it need to be a 10-part miniseries? Just pointless bloat of what should be a tense thriller.

Spare a thought for all the agents taking calls from hordes of writers with a big idea for the inevitable Mandelson prestige drama and the actors wanting to play him.

World's most famous wealthy paedophile and fascist-monarchist billionaire discussing the joys of Brexit, but hey, at least we stuck it to the elites, right?
Definitely seems like they destroyed the country on purpose.

Things I love about Traitors Ireland:
1) Siobhan, obviously
2) Katelyn changing from contacts to glasses for the turret meetings
3) the "this is Ireland, it's going to rain, we're not doing indoor alternatives for the missions" attitude
4) the Traitors being absolute chaos gremlins

A short 🧵

Charlotte Cadden was a serving police officer when she created the vile, secret network of police officers called ‘Police SEEN’

The secret network is for cops who are homophobes and transphobes who want to incite hatred and isolation-of trans staff, or any trans-allies.

Just imagining what press coverage of the by-election would be like if the Reform candidate was a young local councillor and plumber while the Greens had parachuted in a celebrity academic with a massive ego.
The Sunday Times article on Goodwin is funny. It’s precisely because he didn’t get the recognition he felt he deserved that he rage-quit & turned to racist grift. There’s nothing he’d have liked more than to have been an Oxford prof. www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

This prompted a thought: how many of the people who insist MPs shouldn't be able to switch parties are the same people who complain about whipping in Parliament?
Thoughts in the FT on why I don't like the idea of an automatic by election if an MP changes party - but understand why some people do, along with a possible compromise...

Brexit can never be delivered, only betrayed, exhibit 94.
I doubt many people would instinctively recall that January 31st 2026 tomorrow is the sixth anniversary of actual Brexit day. (The tenth anniversary of 23rd June 2016 will be a much bigger deal).
