JCPA is proud to stand with @counterhate.com in the face of this blatantly authoritarian move to punish the Administration's critics and protect Big Tech oligarchs. Imran and the team at CCDH are important partners in our work to combat antisemitism and violent extremism online.
Absolutely fascist — and dangerous — effort by the admin to ban my colleague Imran Ahmed and others from the US.

"...restrictive policies toward immigrants shape residential patterns not only by facilitating deportations but also by increasing economic vulnerability, inciting fear and anxiety, and eroding trust between Latinos and other groups."

Policies that divide communities literally divide communities.
NEW AT DEMOGRAPHY: We use difference-in-difference approach using applicant vs. implemented counties w/ 287(g) ICE agreements 2000-2020 to identify a plausibly causal effect immigration enforcement leading to sizeable increase in Latino-White segregation.

“It turns out that banishing the slur from public discourse was, in fact, important. Because now it’s back and it turns out that it does matter when subtext becomes actual text, when terrible people enable open hatred and bigotry, encouraging others to emulate them, degrading us all.”
Perry: The return of the r-word
"These days, the r-word slur has become a staple of the American right wing, uttered with few professional or social consequences," David M. Perry writes.

This is horrible. Trump and his crew shut down USAID, which has led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, and they had no idea what they were doing or what would be the consequences. Completely immoral.

Just disgusting bigotry that should have no place here — and that every official has a responsibility to reject even if they don’t agree with @ilhanmn.bsky.social’s policies.
Trump: "Ilhan Omar, whatever the hell her name is. With her little turban. I love her. She comes in, does nothing but bitch ... we ought to get her the hell out ... she's here illegally."

President Trump’s dehumanization and targeting of our Somali neighbors is racist and it is dangerous. When any community is singled out, none of us is safe. Labeling a community “garbage” gives license to further bigotry and violence — threatening all of us, the rule of law, and our democracy.
Most Somali immigrants in Minnesota are U.S. citizens, yet residents have been pulled over, asked for their passports and detained by ICE this week after President Trump called them “garbage.”
In Minneapolis, Somalis say they’ve been targeted since Trump called them ‘garbage’
Minnesota has been a magnet for Somali immigrants for decades and now has America’s largest population of people of Somali descent.

This settlement also forced Northwestern to abandon gender affirming care for trans youth. Using the need for Jewish safety as an excuse to take it away from others actually increases antisemitism and leaves us all less safe.
Jewish leaders with ties to Northwestern University are cautiously celebrating a $75 million settlement reached on Friday with the Trump administration to restore federal funding that was frozen earlier this year over allegations that administrators failed to address campus antisemitism.

It’s not accidental that this happened the same day the president threatened members of Congress with arrest and hanging. Extremism is being normalized on a daily basis, at a pace intended to make it seem overwhelming and insurmountable — and we need our leaders to continue calling this out.

So I have a question. Are there any people out there who actually have a strong RELIGIOUS objection to all the stuff ICE is doing now? Not a philosophical one or a moral one, but something akin to the "deeply held religious beliefs" cited to avoid making cakes or websites.
