One aspect in how the US has gotten increasingly fucked is pretty simple. People get their news from social media, so have a bad actor buy one of the largest and completely flood it with conservative conspiracy garbage. Most Americans news source is now memes and AI.
The country's elites (CEOs, sports, celebrities, politicians, media, etc etc) are never going to stop using Elon Musk's child porn platform. That's why America is doomed. No one is willing to do even the absolute bare minimum, in fear of upsetting the status quo.
