Women learn solidarity with each other in a way that men do not. Love, loyalty and trust require vulnerability that men fear, as the sensation of connecting with your emotions feels tender and raw. Real weakness is fear of your emotions, but men are taught - and act as if - the opposite is true.

I think the real problem is that men have an insecurity epidemic. Men act as if they do not have emotions, that they do not get insecure, and poor parenting reinforces this repression. It's much easier and convenient to be pissed off and mad than it is to take responsibility for how you feel.

I love the support indie bookstores get. They deserve it. But it saddens me that indie authors don’t get the same support. Indie bookstores largely won’t stock indie books and we’re the most hard hit by the online boycott. It would be nice if indie book stores could return the support we give them.
