If you’re trying to make it harder for people to vote, stop pretending to give a shit about democracy.

Every American - regardless of their political views - deserves to have their voice heard.

“If we do not recognize the full history then we are doomed to repeat it”
They’ve tried to erase us for centuries. Didn’t work then, won’t work now. Black history IS American history.

Read the whole thread (all 7!) This is a super important explanation of how race and racism is very much a part of all of us. White people cannot continue to deny it.

We should ALL be furious. What impacts one, impacts us all. In a democracy, when we allow the rights of others to be trampled, we allow those in power to trample ours too. And the more rope we let out, the more they will take. Also. Speaking out against injustice is just the right thing to do.

Texas state Rep. Nicole Collier speaks to MSNBC from the Texas State Capitol. She is stuck there after the Texas GOP required police surveillance as condition for release. She is refusing to sign a waiver for the law enforcement escort.

“Silence in the face of oppression is not an option. The U.S. Attorney General asked for a response by today. So here it is…Stop attacking our cities to hide your administration's failures.”

Donold used the higher crime numbers from 2023 to justify his takeover of D.C., and soon he'll use lower ones from early January this year to "prove" it worked.

Thought experiment: Things get really dire in the US. US citizens begin fleeing the country quickly.

Question 1: Do you go?
Question 2: Where do you go?
Question 3: What do you bring?
Question 4: How would you want to be treated once you’re there?

The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns.

Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care.

The list goes on and on.

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

Such a well thought-out description of the challenges that the Democrats currently face. Written by my friend, and professor of political science, @jpstonerook.bsky.social
"I’ll admit I don’t know what Democrats ought to do right now. What I do hope to do with this article, however, is to lay out the reasons why Democrats feel so helpless at the moment. Maybe by stating explicitly what those problems are, Democrats can find a way to start fighting back."
