Attending the 6-8 @betterstreetsforbirmingham.org meeting tonight after a bit of a break reminded me, if I needed reminding, that you need to surround yourself with people who believe the world can be a better place, &, most importantly, are prepared to do something to make the 🌍🌎🌏 a better place

Over 24,000 children in Birmingham are living with #Asthma. The Clean Air Zone has reduced #AirPollution by 17%, but the toxic air in #Birmingham is still having a "devastating impact" on communities.

Brilliant effort from the Circle the City riders last night. 🌧💨 It was chucking it down and blowing a gale, but that didn’t stop them pedalling on. 💪

The Ladypool Rd is one of Birmingham’s busiest and most vibrant streets. But poor parking, speeding and dangerous driving make it unsafe. Imagine what it could be with safe streets, space for people and thriving local business. Time to act - pedestrianisation must be on the table.

Still not sure why I cycle Ladypool Rd - even with scooters & delivery riders it feels unsafe. We’ve seen awareness with the Bahu Trust, the teenage pedestrian thrown into the air & most recently a 22yo killed at Stratford/Ladypool

This road is crying out for pedestrianisation

Everyone should be able to make the journeys they want, whatever mobility aids they use. This really important report highlights the unjustifiable abuse & danger mobility scooter users face, & shows why changes to mobility aid rules and regulations are so urgently needed.

A reminder about tomorrow's #CircleTheCity. Leaving from Victoria Square at 6 PM.

All welcome, very much including relatively inexperienced cyclists who want to try out a low key group ride. It'll probably be dark by the time we finish, so bring lights!

I'm up at my parents' in Birmingham and you know what this city needs: Chicago's parking enforcement.

Cars just illegally parked *everywhere*, blocking pavements and bus lanes. Need them all to get towed

Huge thanks to Moseley Forum for hosting a Road Safety Open Meeting 🙏 Our Chair, Martin Price, joined Mat MacDonald, Sarah Chaundler (City of Cars) & Cllr Izzy Knowles. Great to see prospective candidates + residents debating how to make our streets safer, healthier & more liveable

Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone has cut pollution by 17% 👏 but parts of the city still break legal limits.

Khan’s steadfast push on ULEZ shows real political courage. Time Brum’s leaders showed the same boldness to deliver truly clean air. 🌍🚶🏻‍♀️🧑🏽‍🦽🚲🚌

184 years earlier than predicted, London has met the legal limits for toxic NO2 for the first time.

This historic milestone proves that bold action like expanding ULEZ works, protecting children’s health and giving millions cleaner air to breathe.

Yeah sure, the pedestrian crossing is a road now - why the hell not? @betterstreetsforbirmingham.org

Let's hope that paving can withstand buses driving over it all day...
A pedestrian crossing point, complete with tactile paving, has become a road for the day by simply removing a couple of bollards and adding a temporary 'Give Way' sign A bus making use of the pedestrian crossi- I mean road...

Glad to see investigations into potential links between living in an area with a high concentration of wood stoves & increased rates of respiratory issues, eg inhaler prescriptions. #AirPollution

Thanks to everyone who came to the LTN engagement session today. One big concern was the LTN and re-opened train station making it harder for residents to park by their homes. I've set up a short survey we can use as a petition to the Council. Please sign and share:
