The nicest goddamn dame that ever lived. 📍Twin Cities transplant
Went to brunch, played in the snow with my pup, and settling in to resume the Parker Posey marathon. On today's list: A late-90s PP double-feature: Dazed and Confused is a classic of course, but I’ve watched it so many times - going with 1996’s SubUrbia and 1997’s Clockwatchers.

Do they stay all winter? I had no idea they stuck around!

A few months ago Best Buy shareholders voted to reject an anti-DEI proposal. I'm not familiar with Micro Center, but I have been happy with Best Buy purchases and return policies.

I wasn't tired, so I followed this up with Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay and oh my god lolllzzzz. It is so campy and made-for-TV wonderful. The cast is GOING FOR IT. There are cartwheels, Dallas accents, a grocery store food fight, Shannen Doherty in wigs so bad they're good...10/10

Excited to see this review! I loved Knives Out (felt fresh), thought Glass Onion was just...fine (entertaining, but nothing special) and figured WUDM would be fairly meh. But this angle seems interesting.

Honestly, it was much worse than I anticipated. I only have a personal driveway, but I was like "screw this" after 30 minutes of scraping.

Agreed!

Probably true in some ways, but I might argue that how much the Overton window does or doesn't move actually has more to do with how the rest of us are reacting to it. I've seen a lot of pushback so far, and I'm hoping that continues.

I honestly don't know if I have the typical experience here though, because what I'm thinking of are companies I worked with for a larger architectural firm (i.e. Nasdaq) but also TINY local sign design co.s who just needed the file they were most familiar with.
November 26, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Usually no - most liked full control of the file (sometimes that had to do with rights, one-off design issues like plotter age/software, or wanting to make their own changes to a file later.

Yes - for things like sign design or environmental elements, they all want the OG AI files. Will be interesting to see how/if/when this changes industry standards...

Always been my main problem as a freelancer who works with larger companies (or actually, the sometimes smaller print shops they/I work with too) - has to be Adobe.

It also sounds like maybe you live somewhere where delivery is never an issue? I have lived in a few areas where, even if advertised, delivery isn't guaranteed and/or a delivery window has to be specified. I work from home now, but this used to be a problem for me.

I don't either. And transit options aren't great. But it doesn't change the fact that we then pay more (in my case, often quite a bit more) than people who do have cars/transit options.

I would love a Tedium deep-dive into this! I've been an Apple + Adobe user forever, and feel like I don't understand enough about Linux to understand future implications. Also...kinda Linux curious. ALSO wondering how this might affect Apple moving forward (since I'm all in with them ATM).

3 local photojournalists were shot by SPPD, there is clear video of SPPD spraying a person using a cane with pepper spray point-blank - just a few of the shocking things documented by peaceful bystanders - and the mayor-elect hasn't made *any* kind of statement yet...? Frankly, that's appalling!
From the MN Society for Professional Journalists: St. Paul police shot three photojournalists (MPR, Reuters, Sahan Journal) with "less lethal" munitions during an ICE operation yesterday. One had to go to the hospital. They say they were specifically targeted by St. Paul police.

And what delivery ever ends up being cheap anyway? Where I live we have to pay the delivery fee, local taxes on the delivery, and add a tip - sometimes all of that ends up being a third of the total cost.
