I do enjoy walking at #burghley but I'm afraid their cycle parking offer is pathetic.

I've emailed previously and had no response. Tens of thousands spent recently on a new car park, but this is their idea of acceptable secure cycle parking.

This is what creating "psychological friction" for drivers looks like. The changes in pavement height, color, and texture break a driver's autopilot mode. It sends a clear message that "You are entering a space designed for people. Slow down. Be alert."

Further up the same Stockholm street from the clip below is another traffic-calming device: intersections where cars may cross but the design is a sidewalk with low curb. Drivers tend to inch across, some of them likely not sure if they're really supposed to be there.

Good Morning DPS Community,
This message is an update regarding an incident this morning. A Thorpe Elementary student was brushed by a car while crossing the street near the school. The student was in the crosswalk and the crossing guard had properly stopped traffic, but the driver ignored that and proceeded. Thankfully, the student was not seriously injured. The Danvers Police responded to the situation.
Acknowledging that we are often in a hurry to get to where we are going, it is critical that all drivers be especially mindful of traveling near school buses and schools. The bus drivers and crossing guards are charged with helping our students get to and from school safely and they need cooperation from all drivers.
