It's Trans Day of Visibility, so here is a painting I did last month inspired by the trans pride flag and the year of the snake. Y'all deserve so much more than the bullshit out there!

Hello #PortfolioDay

I'm Rebecca--a traditional painter who uses gouache, watercolor, and oils. I'm interested in creating magical, queer, whimsical, and colorful art for books and games with a sense of humor. I especially love sci-fi, fantasy, YA, TTRPG's, comics, and every dog 😀

I've been getting major FOMO over the Dragonsteel Nexus posts. This is an older piece, but I'm still proud of it. I even took my friend to a trampoline park for reference photos. You should've seen the weird looks we got 😅

DECEMBER IS UPON US

"Merry Mari Lwyd"
18 x 24 oils. Based off of the incredible Welsh tradition where they wassail with a decorated horse skull. If you fail to respond in rhyming song, then you the carolers enter your home and have snacks and beer.

A giant horse head (the Mari Lwyd) decorated with ribbons is held up by a cloaked figure above a crowd of cheering townsfolk with mugs of beer.

A print of A black and white painting of a Baphomet figure formed from the night sky. The goats head and spiraling horns are silhouetted in front of a giant moon. In its "body" shape, several nude young women are floating in the sky. Their hair flies unbound and free behind them. Another woman in the foreground, nude but her hair still in a bun, looks on, as if to join them. A print of a black and white painting of a skeleton with a Victorian-style updo and dress. She is holding a cup of tea, from which steam swirls back and around to frame the head. There are gold accents on the dress and teacup as well as gilded decorative framing elements.
The text says: “Dying for a cup of tea.”
A print of A figure in an old-fashioned dress holds their own head in their hands, as though they had just removed it. A creature made of black smoke is climbing up out of their neck. Its glowing eyes make contact with the viewer’s. The tendrils of smoke that make up its body swirl around the original figure. The creature's eyes are silver leaf.

It would be criminal not to share the world's cutest dog with all of you after he got his new bandana. Can you believe my boy Allonsy is 12 🥺
A black and tan dog wearing a Halloween bandana. One of his ears is up and he is sitting in a bright green frog shaped dog bed.

"Together" is my other piece for Brasswork Gallery's upcoming postcard show. Just two dreaming otters holding hands so they don't drift apart 🥰
Two otters hold hands in a swirling pink and blue abstract ocean.

"Song of the Siren Shield"

Had a lot of fun coming up with the concept for this one--a shield that lures enemies to you and away from the rest of the party. 9x12 gouache.
A brown and blue shield with two mermaids forming the optical illusion of a skull.

Just finished "Dream Eater" for Brassworks Gallery's postcard show. It's loosely based off of the mythical Baku who eats nightmares. To be honest, I just love Tapirs, and I would REALLY love for one to come and steal all my bad dreams away during this stressful time.
A colorful tapir is surrounded by brightly colored bubbles and hands reaching toward it.
