The US Administration has banned Americans from *adopting babies* from much of the African continent.

Adopting.

Babies.

What trait do those babies have that, when they grow up as fully American adults, would make them a threat to our country in any form?
On that last post: I genuinely cannot think of any good-faith reason to bar international adoptions from those 39 countries. Under this new ban, consulates will refuse adoption visas for any baby from Cuba, Haiti, Venezuela, Nigeria, or any of the 39 other countries.

Today in the casual media normalization of personalist, nepotistic authoritarianism.

Jared Kushner holds no senior Senate-confirmed post in the US government. He is the son-in-law & business partner of the president. This is unprecedented, massive corruption & media outlets should treat it as such.

Inciting violence and normalizing murder is part of the authoritarian playbook. Learned somewhere during my Poli Sci studies at Brown…
A mass shooting at my alma mater Brown University hit hard, proving no community is safe from senseless violence in a land with more guns than people

Trump added insult to injury by claiming there is "nothing you can do." We can do a lot about guns

One of the reasons I often use Head Start as an illustrative program for how federal funding can create beautiful locally responsive programming is that every Head Start grantee has to submit a community assessment that translates program eligibility into a plan to serve their unique community.
"The list of words includes "accessible," "belong," "Black," "disability," "female," "minority," "trauma," "tribal" and "women.""

...many of the reasons why Head Start exists and is such a crucial program in the US, but sure.

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

American military preparedness and vigilance essential in an increasingly dangerous and violent world. Our allies increasingly no longer trust us with good reason.
Today we remember the thousands of Americans who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor 84 years ago. Nearly half of those lost were aboard the USS Arizona, and I remember what a moving experience it was when Gabby and I visited the memorial. We’ll never forget their sacrifice.

Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isn’t charity.

It’s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system that’s rigged for the rich.

Condolences to the students at OU who *were* working hard, doing the course work and earning good grades long before the administration there decreed that you only need to say "as the Bible teaches" and be done with it.

I'm sorry your university hates you and hope you can transfer somewhere good.
If I was working at OU, I would just start handing out 100's to every student and stop writing comments.
OU has put the professor here on administrative leave:

Creating a military conflict with Venezuela gives this administration a legal "hook" to invoke the Alien Enemies Act. In other words, the foreign war is being manufactured in order to facilitate court deference for its domestic mass deportation policy. It's a Stephen Miller Special.
