EVs are close to 1 in 4 cars sold in November in Europe.
🇧🇪 🇩🇰 🇫🇮🇮🇪🇮🇸🇱🇺🇳🇴🇵🇹🇳🇱🇸🇪 buy EV over any other choice.
Everything despite tariffs on Chinese EVs and with scarce offerings on B cars and small SUV, the best seller segments in Europe.
Only delusional people really believe ICE cars will make it to 2035.
#piloly:

"Some European political parties are working hard to overturn the 2035 ban on selling cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).
Do they really think there will be any demand for ICE cars in 10 years?"

Though worth noting the French and Italians argue that in bouncing the Germans and Finns into accepting a path towards Eurobonds they have put EU Europe's geopolitical ambitions on a more sustainable long term footing

So we have the first Eurobond issuance built on unanimity (as it always requires) but then not with all member-states paying. Wild? Yes also novel - Lucas has got you.

Also this is the first time I see enhanced cooperation and multi speed Europe on a key file.

Hugely important precedent.
So what the hell just happened? Two things: Ukraine will get 90 billion euros. And Orbán did not veto that even though he could have.

How so? Short thread:

After all night negotiations, EU leaders failed to reach agreement on using frozen Russian assets to fund Ukraine.

But they did agree on a Plan B: a €90bn loan to 🇺🇦 using joint borrowing. But only 24 of the EU27 will participate.

De Wever leaving happy. Merz not so much.

Renglones torcidos.
EU leaders fail to strike a deal on an unprecedented reparations loan for Ukraine, turning to joint debt instead to finance a €90 billion loan. Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia will not participate in the scheme.

Cards on the table: By locking in the Russian assets for good, the European Union is finally playing hardball.

And it offers a preview of what life could look like without unanimity in foreign policy.

My weekend analysis.
By locking in Russian assets for good, the EU finally plays hardball
In an audacious move, the EU has decided to indefinitely immobilise the Russian sovereign assets, pushing back against external pressure to release the funds before Moscow agrees to pay war reparation...
